High school grades don't mean anything, as long as you passed high school,
it doesn't influence you if you want to go to university. :>
The high school CAN advise you not to go to university
if your grades are bad. But they can't stop you if you want to try. :>
(Though entering uni is pretty expensive. <<)

in germany it depends on where you live and what you wanna do if you have to pay for university or not >.>
and you can't get certains jobs/into certain universities/classes without good grades.

but I suck at the big courses, like Introduction to Philosophy.

And that I heard of too. Like they won't hire you with a Master's degree,
because then they'd have to pay you more than if you'd only have a Bachelor's degree. ><
