@wulfilalice Using laptop for reading isn't safe! I'm a hard reader. 300 - 400 pages on one go isn't rare for me. And my eyes started to complain ... That's why I have e-book now... (instead of a tablet or a smartphone )
I still use PC from time to time, though :mcsweat:

@Sanssouci Real books feel great, isn't it?
But what about fanfics or internet books? I mean, "no paper alternative" cases?

Quotation "Staring at a computer or phone screen can be a serious strain on your eyes."
People still argue about how bad for eyes are computer screens. If they are.

I feel pain in the eyes if I read to much from my laptop. I didn't feel pain when I read paper books = easy decision for me.

I have tried reading things online when I couldn't find them physically. But I can just never get into it. So I've given up! My eyes bother me if I'm on the computer too much too.

most of my day is in front of a computer screen. I'm not saying it's healthy, it's just the way I live. it's where my interests lie. if I cut out kofk and useless social media, I'd still spend time on my laptop/phone, just with better activities

a few years ago I was reading from an mp3 player screen. it felt better than a computer. now I'm doing everything with a macbook air, including reading, and can't really complain. maybe their screens are just not so bad for eyes? or maybe I'm not noticing the problems

I know you're supposed to take breaks from the screen every X minutes but who really times their computer usage?

I use a Kindle for ebooks but still read physical books more often. I actually used it mostly for games until I got Kindle Unlimited XD which runs out soon anyway.

But using a Kindle is still bad for your eyes. In fact, reading a normal books is bad for your eyes too, though less so. It becomes even more of a problem if you read in low light, even if you have the Kindle on and the rest of the room is dark. This is just a fact of life, really. Anything where you have to focus on small details, like with text, will make your eyesight worse as you grow older, and more likely that you will have very poor sight in old age. I just accept that I am ruining mine with reading, sewing, and using my laptop all day... hey, maybe I'll get hit by a bus before I'm old and it won't matter anyway XD

I'm on the computer a lot. But I take a lot of breaks too. And I use flux, which makes your screen yellower and less harsh. And I have transition lenses now. And I have been wearing sun hats out too! I think that stuff has all helped a lot.
