you say you now only have 1 female and the rest are males? maybe the remaining female will be more social since she's now the alpha. i have seen situations where that happens in the past with a different "brood" than what we have atm. i don't know though honestly, because i don't know the pecking order in your household....lol. let me know what goes on in the next few months with her
currently, we have 2 females and a male. but before the male came into the picture, the two girls were "tolerable" of each other since they could come and go as they pleased where my sister lived before. i was in england, but didn't have the proper papers to get my kitty shipped over yet, so she had her with her cat. then things happened....i moved to canada then to california....then across the states and it wasn't until 3 or 4 years later that i was able to be back with my cat due to circumstances. that was when my sister moved to the first place we lived in in our current town. since that move, the cats were restricted to being inside only. that's when my cat started showing that she resented my sister's cat, who was only 2 years younger than her. then we moved out of that place and due to the situation, i had both the cats for about a year on my own...living in one room no outside yet again. so naturally, they fought every night. from there, my sister was able to get a house, so they each had free rein of all of the house. but the fighting continued, so now they live together but separate. my kitty stays in my room while hers comes and goes as she pleases, inside and out. everything was fine until i got my boris a little over a year ago. he was a kitten, she's nearly 10. he wants to play with her, but she just growls and hisses. he still hasn't realized that she wants nothing to do with him. but when it's just her and me, she purrs and plays like she used to do when she was an only "child", when he's in her sight or smell, she gets all grumpy and anti-social.
i'm not saying that my particular situation is just like yours. but perhaps your last female won't feel "threatened" anymore since she'll be queen bee over the idiot boys. *shhhh....we love them, but they really are lovable idiots xD*
Ironically the last female is the youngest of the bunch, and gets along with the boys well, it's just getting her to want to be pet for more then 3 seconds that can be an issue, I'm hoping she'll settle down soon, but she's lived here nearly 2 years now(she's about 3) and trini and her really never had any issues, the alpha of the group is actually Auron now whose about 8-10 years old. Ironically Trini never did act like a queen around the boys or around the other female Patches, it was more like patches and her just teamed up together to hog the food bowl on the boys XD.
But yeah, her antisocialness is more along the lines of never wanting held or pet except on her terms, which is a very large difference between how trini and frisky were who would basically love getting held and pet for as long as you wanted to do so, neither were bothered by it and loved it. Her terms are usually you can pet me if i'm near you but i'm leaving in 3 seconds even while getting pet. Otherwise she's pretty much the zoom zoom cat of running all over the house.
I do agree though that i think losing frisky did play a role, though trini had been having health issues for about 4 years as is, and everytime we took her to a vet, they'd just say it was due to her age and our options were either deal with it, or put her to sleep. I wasn't about to put her to sleep when her issues weren't affecting her day to day life outside of her arthritis which she didn't seem like that bothered her too much other then being stiff a lot.
Still trying to just cope with this though, doesn't help now i'm starting to have dreams about kittens which is not happening anytime in the foreseable future thanks to the guy that mom allows to live here who she's letting have a say in the pet situation. (pretty much he only is willing to get a kitten if we allow a savannah in here, and i refuse because those thigns are part wild cat and i don't' trust one not to hurt one of the boys or Patches.(the boys being Thunder, IB and Auron)
