@Moi: The first episode of it the main character beats people to death with a baseball bat.
I`ve heard the computer game it was based off of was really freaky. Not sure how it is on the blood factor though.

Aww *pets* there`s several Higurashi`s out there, the first season is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, which has people killing people, then Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai which kinda explanes things and then Higurashi no Naku koro ni Rei, which I haven`t seen yet.
