Pretty much? But I have to tell it which dots are the outside dots and which dots are just interior stuffing.

How do you do that?

Shenanigans. The program understands density, and you can tell it to find the border between two different densities. Or between a density of points and no points, as the case may be.

Why can't it just automatically do that? Why is there no setting for "thing/not-thing"?

It thinks the air is a thing. It thinks the cotton the jaws are packed in is a thing. Everything is a thing to it.

Why are you rotoscoping your DA character?

It's an exercise! If I can paint on a face on a face, it will give me an idea of how faces work. I am doing my DA character because she is beautiful and I love her. Also because she's almost in the uncanny valley so I won't feel bad for not achieving photorealism.
