Considering how poor I am, lol, I've been a lot of places! But really that gives me the perspective to know that I'm not truly poor, just currently in a bit of a cash bind. There are options; I'll be okay in the long run. Compared to so many people around the world, I'm so very, very lucky!

Kyan, I hope that you are being careful with your cold, and staying warm and drinking LOTS of hot fluids and getting extra sleep! If you can stand to do it, eat a lot of garlic in your foods, and drink lemon-ginger tea with some honey in it to soothe your throat & help boost your immune system!

My mother makes this ungodly awful drink, we tease her and call it her "witch's brew" and we all hate it, but if we're getting sick we all drink it anyhow because it works. It's basically the juice of two small lemons or one big one, plus two large or four small cloves of garlic (peel them), plus about a cubed centimeter of fresh ginger (already peeled) -be generous, you could do 1/2 inch cubed too, and she blends it all up, pours it into a mug that already has a couple finger widths' of very hot water in it, grinds some flakes of dried thai chilis, adds that, and then takes a spoon of honey and stirs it all together and we hold our noses to drink it, because it's terrible! Ha ha ha, I don't recommend it if you're already into the full-blown cold because what it is so good at, is staving off the illness when you're just starting to come down with it. Once you already have it, you may as well spare yourself.

But I list it out anyhow because if you're not allergic to anything in there, then it's a good trick to know, in case you start coming down with something and you can't miss work or school or some event the next day.
Really, though... hold your nose and just knock it back; it's awful!

So each FC costs 1.90 Euro. So for 20 FC that costs 38 Euro.

The gift is different each month but it's almost always gold colored. There have been a few that aren't, but not many.

I've been to Canada when I was a baby and on my honeymoon I went to Mexico and the Caymen Islands. I didn't get any money from there. I should have though.

I think someone said this month it was rainbow wings?

And method of payment makes a difference, too. If you look at the donate page, it's only 1.60 Euro for each FC if you do credit transfer, and if you do cash it's 3 FCs for ever 5 euros, I don't know how it goes up from there.

Thinking in Euros confuses me since I have to do US dollars.
I imagine it's $50 total for me, since I spent $25 on 10FCs today.
But if I can do even more, I'd like to. I want to donate what I can to the site! c:

I want to go to Canada. D:

I like Canada, at least the countryside and the smaller towns. I haven't really been to any of the big Canadian cities.
Maybe someone here is from there, and can tell you where to start when you manage to go visit!

Well, my best friend lives in Canada, and I want to visit at some point ..
I need to get a passport, for sure. After that, I don't know what else I need to do haha.

I want to make a new avatar, but I'm struggling to put items together.
This is so stressful, haha.

Hm, well, passports are good for, what is it, ten years? Fifteen? A long time, anyhow. So you may as well do that whenever you have the time and the fee.

Then if you just want to go up and visit, and don't want to work or go to school there, that's actually all you need. You can just go at that point. The U.S. and Canada are getting along relatively well, so it's fairly straight-forward.

It's so neat that you know someone from there, though! That would make visiting ever so much nicer -I hope when you go, that you take lots of pictures and tell us about it.

edit: Let me redo that; if you want to go up and visit and don't want to work or go to school OR stay longer than 6 months in one visit

That's good to know! So then I'd probably only need money for hotels and food, etc.
I may want to work there at some point, and possibly even live there.
But I know I'm not ready for all of that yet, haha.

It is! We met on Gaia a long time ago and are still friends.
I haven't met her in person yet, which is why it's so important I go to Canada someday!
Unless she comes down here to Missouri, which may be more likely haha.

That's very helpful information though! Thanks Akili. c:

You are welcome. ^_^
I really did like going up to Canada.
The people were very kind to us, and when I was up there the time when one of my great-aunts was injured and she was stuck in a wheelchair, they helped out a lot in terms of telling us which buildings would give us trouble and what alternatives were around and even once these two brothers offered to carry her up three flights of stairs (I took up the chair) so she could see a museum that was in an older building and didn't have an elevator. They gave us their number and had us call them when we were done so they could carry her back down again, and would not even let us buy them lunch in thanks! It was truly incredible. We thought we'd just have to skip that one, but they made it possible.

Also, the scenery is quite gorgeous. Well, it's very like the northern regions of the U.S. if you've traveled around there at all, but without being quite so built-up. And if you go in the late summer, even if it does stay light outside for a really long time, it is WORTH IT to stay awake, because at least where I've been, there's far less light pollution. So the night sky is just...
I don't have words.
It was incredible.
There's aurora sometimes, if you're lucky, but even without that! (I've been to some regions of northern Europe, including the Nordic countries, but never to a place remote enough that it wasn't affected by light pollution. But Canada! Wow!)

I've hardly been out of the Midwest.
I went to New Jersey once for a concert, but left the next morning.
I went to DC for a couple days on a field trip and that was quite amazing ...
But otherwise, it's simply too expensive to travel around a lot. :/

I believe it, though! I can't wait to go.
That was so nice of those men. c:
