Yeah, that happens in some manga series.
But I tend to grow attached to characters I didn't like in the beginning.
Like Kyoko from Madoka Magica.
She was my least favorite, but then she moved up to a tie with Mami xD

Oh yeah, I love when authors do that. You hate the character and then the author gives you back story and you can't help but feel bad for them. :( Sayaka honestly annoyed me a lot, but that's only because she acted like a predictable young teenage girl, which is sad in its own sense I guess.

Are you talking about Kyoko or Sayaka?
I was so sad for Sayaka when she made her specific wish because in the end, it didn't matter for her at all. :c And sometimes I felt like she was a little mean to Madoka when Madoka would try to stop the fighting.

Yeah. She even mentions being mean to her best friend before she turns into a witch u8
People said there's no good reasoning for shipping Sayaka and Kyoko.
They say that they didn't have enough time to form a relationship.
While that's true, Kyoko DIED for and with Sayaka xD

That's so weird, I feel like they're totally shippable. In a love-hate relationship kind of way, lol. I feel like Kyoko saw her past self in Sayaka so they actually related to each other pretty well. And like you said, they did die together.
Man, this magical girl anime is so morbid when you think about it.

the art style for the anime is super misleading because it looks cute, but then you watch almost everyone die six times.

The spoilers ruined the surprise for me too
