I am really not sure whether anyone would feel motivated enough to do something like this, but I think what would be really helpful would be a guide on how to make Wild Knuffel. At the moment I am rejecting like 30% of all submissions which really makes me sad. But so many people seem to have problems with that and mainly with the two points I stated in the announcement: Backgrounds and significant change.
For the background it isn't so much that it isn't transparent, but that so many of the Knuffel have either white pixel around the drawing, or completely random white pixel somewhere in the image, random black smudges or lines and all other kind of weird stuff where I don't even understand how it gets there. T_T So maybe it would be great if someone could put together a few tips about how to work in some basic art programs, what layers are and how to work in them, how to make sure that there aren't any weird smudges/pixel anywhere, etc. Just some random tips on how to get a clean result. Not a "how to use art programs" tutorial, because there are thousands of these if you search through google. Just some tips mainly focusing on clean transparent backgrounds.
And the significant change thing is really giving me a headache. I tried to explain in the announcement in the morning already that people should make sure there was significant change and that maybe adding at least 3 "changes" per stage was a good guideline, because I really had submissions like: 1stage -> 2nd stage: Adding a pair of socks, 2nd stage -> 3rd stage: Adding a bow-tie, 3rd stage -> 4th stage: Adding gloves, 4th stage -> 5stage: Adding shoes. But looking at the Wild Knuffel that were uploaded ever since it seems that the "3 changes tip" isn't really solving the problem, because even if people make 3 changes per stage, the Knuffel just isn't getting anywhere. It is hard to describe without actually showing examples, but I don't want to go around showing someone's Knuffel as "bad example". It's like, the Knuffel just gets more clothes, but somehow it starts out as a "random dude with a little clothes" and ends being "random dude with more/slightly different clothes". And that's just not what people expect in an evolution. I don't mean by that that the Knuffel has to turn into something specific, like Guy -> zebra. Many of my Knuffel are no concrete animals or things, but just fantasy creations, but it should really turn from "something" into "something different looking" somehow, and that's unfortunately not really the case. Some of these Wild Knuffel that were uploaded have a change between stage 1 and 5 that is maybe as significant as the change between stage 1 and 3 could be, at best. And it's a bit frustrating, because people still put effort into these and I have to reject them. Because other people do pay food for these Knuffel and they expect them to change and have the right to get what they expected. Users always have the risk that the Knuffel might turn into something they might not like, but they should not have the risk of the Knuffel basically staying the same.
So, to cut a long story short: I don't really know how to explain these things better than with examples like I have put up in the announcement, and if I had a lot of time I would draw an example to show how it should NOT be done, but I don't really have right now. So if anyone at some point feels like making a guide and trying to explain to people what mistakes not to make and/or give overall tips, that would be really helpful.
Just throwing the idea out here.
