You either give me a time or I’m not coming lol. XD

I don't mind a "can't agree on a time and a place, so some general guidelines and if we don't meet up then we don't meet up, and if we do it's a fun bonus".

I am bothered by a "you must somehow hold yourself available for immediate and no warning contact." which is what cellphones seem like to me. Nope, not doing that. I am not going to be available 24-7 to whomever. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. The instant people assume you have a cell phone, they feel free to try and reach you whenever and then freak out if you don't get back to them right away. Sorry, not interested.

That's the downside of cellphones.

I remember my first cellphone. My parents bought it for me when I was in college, so they could call me. I would leave it always in my bedroom, so it was actually no different from a landline.

Now I usually have it muted.
I take it to my job, but I leave it in the car. If anything happened to me while I drive I would be able to reach the phone, and that's it.

Oh my, I hate those people, at least give me a general idea or I'm going to get absolutely nothing done on that day.
I usually struggle with having several things to do in a single day so it's not helping.
Unless people come to my house, I'm a bit more lenient with this as long as I have at least a day of advance warning so I can clean up.

I have a few games on my phone and social media. But I tend to do most of my Internet activities on the computer.
And pretty much no one has my phone number anyway.

yeahhhh everyone keeps telling me to get a cellphone because it would make things easier to contact me. i...don't have a lot ppl to contact? i barely have any RL friends, i'm sure the only ppl on my contact list would be my parents and sister.

on top of that, i rarely go out except to go to work and you can call me from my work phone if you really want to get in touch with me....8U

Right now, people think they want to contact me more.

If I gave in and got a phone, the constant contact would quickly turn me into a sour grump, and they would find out that actually, no, they really *don't* want to contact me more....

lool i see. well at least you HAVE people to contact. if i got a phone, i'd only care about whether i have data or not. so i can play games. XD

It's a perfectly fine way to use your phone though. That's what I do at least ^^
When I look at my call history it's only husband and little brother so ...

Oh but I use it as a camera too. Mostly for food pictures.

I mostly use my phone as a watch and calendar or an extra computer that I can look at sites late without my glasses on. I left my phone at work for two days and didn't bother to go get it even though I knew it was there the second I got into my car. The younger employees were appalled.

That's the way I use my phone too. Talking to my family. And even with them not "talking" so much as "texting", which is something you can do on your own time.
I personally find it handy.
And as I said before, I like having it when I'm driving, just in case something happens.

While it's useful, I don't think it's a must.
We all used to live perfectly well without them...
