Yeah, because they owned their own businesses and they didn't want to mess up with the taxes or payroll on that, since if you mess up too badly, the penalties can just put you right out of business entirely. And as long as they used someone for that anyhow, it wasn't too much more to just use him for their own taxes too.
They're both retired now though so they're back to doing their own.

what kind of businesses did they have? o:

Dad had a company that did something with databases, mostly for various governments, and my mother ran a historical dance performance group. They were really different businesses, but they used the same accountant.

Well, presumably if they didn't find it interesting they'd not have done it, but I'm not sure about important. I think they were very brave though to try and run a business, since starting a new company is very risky. I don't have that kind of courage, myself.

I have three part-time jobs, so mostly I just do whatever I can find to pay the bills. >.< I'm not driven or ambitious or anything.

three how do you manage

Because none of them have very many hours, which is why I need three. I live with three family Elders who need a fair bit of care and because health things can come up unexpectedly with them, I have to have jobs that are very flexible. The only ones I found like that were very limited in hours, so I took every single one I could find! We've been talking about also getting a roommate or boarder, too, since it's still not quite enough.
