Wait, how did this thread go from impending fight over elve's rights to discussing the downsides of popcorn? :D I agree though, popcorn is nice once in a while, but once you get something stuck it's a bitch and I won't want to eat it again for a long time.

1. the machine hardly ever gets cleaned
2. the popcorn used is usually the cheapest low quality brand that is close to expiration date
3. the popcorn doesn't always get changed daily
its basically one of the main thing cinemas try to cut corners on

packaged popcorn is alright, just don't get it from the machines - in boxes/buckets from the rack prefilled c':
sources being 2 friends that worked in different cinemas and my bff who had a bad experience as a customer haha
coming from the people that worked there and their stories esp, I wouldn't recommend the nachos either >>;;
not as bad as the popcorn, but really anything that the cinemas offer that isn't (pre)packaged... ofc it probably differs per establishment etc

Never heard about it in Poland but we usually don't buy anything since it's so expensive. And if what you're saying also applies to our cinemas, then it's really not worth the money XD'

Yeah cinema snacks are expensive everywhere haha
which makes it all the worse that they're so skeevy about it

I think the snacks is just what the cinemas try to make their money with - the tickets are not expensive enough to fully fund them a lot of the time. But almost expired, badly cleaned and old really doesn't sound good... I wonder if it's that bad here, too.
