The housing market is insane now. Rent is so ridiculously expensive. It's almost impossible to find anything that's habitable that you can afford.

I wish I could move out of my state to somewhere a little more liberal but it's expensive to go literally anywhere.

Do more people use the simplified version or the traditional one?
On my screen the word is so tiny I can't even see the difference. lol. I don't know why the type is so small on my screen. It annoys me.

I was okay at parking front ways where you just pull in, but any other way I was terrible at it. lol.

I always park in reverse, so it's easier to drive out later.
I find it easier this way.

But yeah, other drives sure will be patient while you do your thing, Natsu. It takes time for everyone to park at first.

Btw do you have some kind of sign when you take your license, so other drivers know you're new at it?
Here we must have an L sign for a whole year...

In the US the other drivers are not patient at all. lol. Not even a little bit.

People are assholes on the road.

I know that they do make bumper stickers or window stickers that say student driver here but people often do not give a single fuck. lol.

~Debra:
Most people in mainland China use simplified nowadays, though traditional still has its place in older communities. HK and TW use only traditional from what I know. Basically Mandarin = simpflied, Contonese = traditional

~Amura:
Here I have to wear an "L" sign before I get my driving license (and when I'm learning with an instructor they put "student driver" signs on the car too).
Once I get my first license (fingers crossed), I'll have to wear an "N" sign which stands for Novice Driver until I pass the second driving exam.

Yeah right now we're working on parallel parking and reversing into stalls, because that's what gonna be tested.
I think I'm okay with parallel, reversing into stalls still make me super iffy.
I have terrible terrible spatial skills QAQ

Oh yay!
Thanks for the FC! :qh:

Interesting. I do like learning all these new things. It's not really something you would think to look up.

I have another question!

Mandarin and Cantonese are both Chinese, yes? So how much overlap is there between them?
I imagine it is probably similar to Italian and Spanish. A lot of the same words but not all of them.

~Debra: NP! Enjoy the FC~

The best way I can think of to put it (from my personal experience) is if you think about American English and Old British English's difference, but more extreme.

Speaking-wise. I can't really understand Cantonese, but if I listen for a while I can pick up phrases here and there.

Reading-wise. As mentioned before I can read traditional just fine (though the other way around is a lot trickier) because the grammar and basic vocabulary are the same. There are some differences in vocabulary, but mostly it doesn't hinder comprehension too much.

I used to be active on this Taiwan forum for these light novels, and I'd just type out what I want to say in simplified and convert it to traditional to communicate XD

~Jessi: NP! :D

I'm having a really nice day (a day off + at home alone!), albeit a bit unhealthy (snacking on bubble tea while playing games XD)

How have you been? Any new developments on house hunting? :)
