That's a pretty expensive toy to give a child who would probably be just as happy to play with an empty snail shell and a loop of string...

Only if they've never played on a phone...
Once I was on a bus and witnessed a kid throw a tantrum refusing anything until their mom gave them her phone to play with... :mcsweat:

Yeaahhhh, so i might just get a cheaper iPhone, if only to be able to keep my apps and stuff…8U gosh i hate how they’re phasing the iTouch/iPods out…QnQ i am seriously tempted to just get another iTouch, for a rainy day. In case. 8U i don’t want to regret it several years down the road and then be forced to buy a phone lol. XD;;

Don't get me started on toddlers and smartphones :mcmeh:

Parents give them their phone to mindlessly watch videos so they can enjoy themselves without paying any attention to their own children.
And not once, but as a routine.
The little one gets used to it and throws a tantrum when he's denied his enjoyment... but apparently the parents are poor victims of their child vicious temperament, who is an entitled brat despite their best efforts :mcmeh:

Parenting is not easy but sure some people do not think things thoroughly.

@Hot: the only issue with stocking on itouch is if apple phases them out, then sooner or later they may not be able to support apps and updates and become difficult to use D:

@Amura: yeaaaaah and modeling is important too, if the parents are addicted to their phones all day then it's only natural that the children grow to be like that too :mcsad: parenting is tough...

Parenting is tough, but it's tougher if you take shortcuts.
It ends up backfiring.

It terrifies me when I see a child throw a tantrum and have it work.

Do you really want to teach that future adult that escalating a situation and blindly demanding to have their own way is a valid tactic??
I get that temper tantrums are embarrassing when you're in public and you want them to stop quickly, but....
as a bystander, I will definitely put up with it while you take the time to deal with your child properly!
It is in my best interest to give you time and space to raise the best person you can -they will one day help shape the same world I want to keep living in! It's okay! Take your time and don't give in!

But even when I flat out SAY that in so many words....
it's scary how often the child throwing the tantrum gets its way.

And you can see that in older kids and adults too, like there really are people whose main way of problem-solving is to throw a tantrum at others.

One of the managers at my work is like that... She would phone you and yell whenever there's any issue with the students you have, even when it's not your fault or anything that you can fix, but she'd still yell and expect you to just fix it... We all avoid her like the plague D:
