I saw the black bg for sale 2 times I think until this time

And giving the item to the last bidder is what an auction is ... so I really don't understand why you say the sistem is stupid... And aslo you can't bid against yourself , but you can make another bid after you were outbided

Anyway , please don't think of quitting just because you lost an item :(

i agree with milky you should just save up and wait until it gets sold again

But normal auctions go 1-2-3 after the last bid, so everyone who wants to place another bid can do so...

yeah , I understand what you mean , but to tell you the truth I lost an auction back in the selling thred cuz of a 1 sec to late post also . So even than it was more to the owner of the item to say when the auction is over . Once she/he would have sent the trade there was no way to make anther bid on the item
I also think that before was riscky as well , because unlike now when you know the second when an auction ends , in the selling area you could have posted a bid thinking " this is the last bid and the time has expired , now I'm safe" and than get overbid waiting for the trade XD .
I guess both sistems have there ups and downs ,in the end it comes down to witch sistem you prefer the most

other than these sistems I don't think there can be another , cuz it would take to much to post the countdown ( the "3, 2,1 SOLD" )

I mean think of Yahoo Japan, if ya bid last minute the remaining time is set back to 1min or something...
So I absolutely dont get it why everyone favours the "ebay system" (that already sux at ebay xD) instead of using a system with timer reset o.o

I like the "ebay system" better because I was able to get items cheeper , to be honest . It's pretty much a matter of luck , but because everyone is waiting until the last seconds to bid , some of them didn't get to and the winner can get the item at even half the price . I got my Vampire Scenary that way :)

And not to mention that considering how rare some of the items around are and how much people want them , the auction would probably be extended a half an hour until the last bet XD

But isnt it the reason to make an auction to sell something to the highest bidder? Otherwise you could just set a buy now price or make it a lottery o.o

I mean sure its cool for the winner, who got the items cheap, but neither for the other bidders nor for the seller is the system beneficial o.o
