Desu is just a way of ending a sentence. Like Ka is used at the end of a question.
It`s ohk, I`m teaching myself and my friend who took Japanese is helping me when she can. I`m still having issues with making a sentence

Desu is not just the way of ending a sentence. This is a common mistake. ^^; It's actually the verb. It means is/am/are.
Kami wa chairo desu. My hair is brown.
Ka does end questions though. :3

I just got back from watching the movie 9. My friend dragged me to it cause I dragged her to Transformers.
my japanese is horrible since im not taking japanese yet and im just a freshmen in high schooland the only anguage for now im taking is spanish
