What I mean is, it doesn't cost extra server space when you allow extra state-changes, it means nothing to you KOfK runners to allow a multi-change, no extra servers or bandwidth or moderators required, which means the rule's restrictive just for the purpose of BEING restrictive.

And, just that they're storing a variable for what state it's saved in also adds server space. So saying it doesn't cost them anything is false. Whether you think those costs are worth it to improve the game is a matter of opinion, but the fact is it DOES add to the cost.

It doesn't cost extra bandwidth in any measurable way is what I meant, and I stand by that. I'm more likely to randomly open a Knuffel's page to stare at it for no reason at all, and since there's no rule about conserving bandwidth by doing absolutely nothing that's not necessary on the site, then obviously this rule about the state-change isn't because of the bandwidth it's just because... it wasn't properly thought out. A new feature comes in and people naturally think, for no real reason at all, that it should be limited because we live in a world where things are tangible and thus limited. Only getting to pick a state ONCE so choose carefully seems to make sense, at first glance, because we're used to limits, but it doesn't make any sense. A virtual Knuffel isn't tangible and so tangible life-rules shouldn't apply to it.

You're making an argument that's more quibbling over terms than it is providing a good reason for the rule, and I reject it. If the admins themselves finally (because as far as I know no real reason has ever been given) come out and say "This rule is in place because of bandwidth," I'll still think that's just a cop-out to excuse a poorly thought-out useless rule. Unless it can be shown in a convenient sort of pie chart that it would cost a huge, grotesque, measurable amount of bandwidth/server space to allow users to pay food points and change their Knuffel's state more than once. Which it can't. Because it doesn't. Your "variable" already exists and is already stored, so being able to change it would cost no more than a refresh. Undoubtedly less than changing your forum signature.

Of course I expected people coming out of the woodwork to say "I agree with the rule because it is a rule and I like being restricted because that's life, yaaay!" I just didn't expect it so soon.

Wow. Way to accuse me of saying a bunch of shit I DID NOT. The ONLY thing I disagreed with was your statement that it costs them NOTHING. I even said "Whether you think those costs are worth it to improve the game is a matter of opinion". I was not dismissing your entire idea, merely your accusation that querying the server is free. Out of interest, just what is your experience with server and database management?

And I never said I agreed with the one time state change. I think charging for it or limiting how many times it can be done per day would be a good solution. However, it would NOT be free to implement, which is what you originally said. Citing false facts isn't a great way to convince people, FYI.

I hope I'll have the chance to buy an older knuffel. :<
I already gave up my doubles, but I still feel sad for having to let them go. ;_;

Quite honestly I'm just happy we get a choice in what our final image is going to look like. If Firn wanted to implement something that was no work, no effort, and cost effective she would have kept it the final image period.

As for the feature, I already mentioned I was in love with this feature. Now that I've had the chance to adopt a few I'm addicted to adopting. I had a nice little nest egg of food that is now depleted to nothing. T.T Going to have to be more choosy in the future I suppose.

I thought it would be like bidding for Knuffel like "I have, you want, how much are you planning to give me for the Knuffel?" but this is better - adopting high-level Knuffel would "reward" laziness - why to level Knuffels, when one can buy them? And we newer users can adopt even old Knuffels, good :-)

This is an amazing feature and I'm sure we can al understand the reasons behind not being "fully" refunded on the spot, so to speak. I can't wait to get a few Knuffels I've been craving. (:
