There isn't really any referral item I want at the moment past the money but once I get someone in animal husbandry I imagine I'll want the cub at the very end

I'm kinda stalled with my crafter (need 100 sky coins which are a battle drop to make anything) and my blacksmith (I need Dragon Claws which are a battle drop and I suck at battling). *sigh* I guess I'll just grow plants, catch animal and build flower pots.

I'm debating on if I want a second explorer or keep going until I have one of every career first

I'm keeping as many as possible as explorer (considering the 50 times an hour cap), I've got 1 warrior and she seems to be pretty good.
Plus there is a means to buy item's with the fc my explorers find.
Just go to the Townhall, under the image of the city there are links to other spots, click on the shopping cart link and search for the item you need, if somebody is selling it, you can buy it.
And It's not just from your own town either. I just bought a coral shield for my warrior. currently saving up for a nice sword. :}

I want a better sword. This knife sucks!

I had to change armor halfway a fight because it broke, came back the stupid thing went berserk on me and my brand new knife got destroyed.
Starling is back at being an explorer for now. :}

I had enough materials to make the better shield, so things are going a bit better now. The extra HP lets Hemmingway battle some of the tougher monsters. I still need a better sword. Where are all those darn dragon claws??!

I feel like I'm gonna be the last one to get a warrior XD
