We had a little spare money, so we went out for a treat at a friend's nutrition shop and got acai protein smoothies with fresh bananas, strawberries, and blueberries. SO GOOD.

For the first meal, I had surprisingly decent hospital-cafe-food (a banana, a pear, and a salad roll) and later in the day went to the nearby Thai restaurant that one of the nurses recommended. Had vegetable-heavy khao soi, which was super filling. To the point that I don't think anything else will be needed at all. Although it was weirdly bland. I must look too American or something.

Looove me some basmati rice! And I did feel much better when I had rice every day as my main staple for lunch.

Today so far I've had an omelette with bacon, bologna, and cream cheese on an English muffin. Bought some English muffins on a whim for a "breakfast pizza" recipe I saw, then got to really studying it, and it wasn't that impressive so I'll just make whatever with them until they're gone.

So yesterday at the store I splurged on getting some frozen pre-made food items.
And today I am trying out the vegetable gyoza.

It's SO much faster to eat them from frozen than to make them!
And I'm bad with the dough, I never knead it enough so it isn't strong and it breaks all the time because I always end up overstuffing it.

So this is much better, from that standpoint.

But I disagree with their spice choices.
It's quite bland.
Where is the flavor? Are they trying to sell a separate sauce or something?

It's.... hm. How should I put this?
Both very gratifying and very frustrating, all at once.

I have mixed feelings about buying pre-made foods. :mcheh:

I totally agree, pre-made food is kinda hit or miss ... And sometimes weirdly in between but at least it usually saves time and effort.
I had frozen tarte flambée since I got home late and was to tired for anything else but also hungry ^^°

it sounds amazing, though. I've never tried tarte flambee! Is it like a custard-based tarte?
