I am not Christian either, but I agree with Nikki. I love the architecture and the glass windows, so it is such a shame... I am glad you guys have been there, I never had the opportunity... :/

I just kind of find it sad how the aus government would rather spend $ towards that, which is nice and all but well they don't want to spend $ helping our own communities especially with the Indigenous people.

To be quite honest; the Catholic Church is one of the richest 'organisations' in the world. It can definitely pay for the complete recovery on its own. Then there's also the fact that 3 very very rich people have donated over 300 million already for the restoration. As good news as that is it also makes me wonder...

Imagine if rich people cared as much for human beings as they did for buildings. If those rich people really cared, they could solve like half of the entire world's issues with a check. The Flint water crisis, humanitarian help all over the world after disasters and epidemics, etc. Aside from the beautiful Notre Dame, lots of other churches and places of worship such as mosques etc have also burned down or been damaged.

I'm a Christian, but I don't stand by the Catholic Church. In my opinion it has long strayed from the actual word and message of God, sadly :c

Lots of the super rich are awful people. That's how they got so rich in the first place.

The income inequality is staggering.

Hello peeps.

I heard only late last night, through a person's twitter thread not connected to any media, that a mosque had burned down around the same time as the Dame. No media coverage at all. After that I browsed twitter threads and hashtags for more info and there's plenty to be found of black churches, mosques and others burning down all over the world. People scrambling as a community to donate for the restorations etc.

Just makes me sad that half a day after the Notre Dame made the media explode there's already headlines like 'France's richest family to donate 300 million for restoration.'

I'm happy the beautiful cathedral is getting restored! But what about the other places of worship, who cares for those? :c

Certainly not the rich people :'')
After all I imagine part of it (a big one too probably) is them doing it for the good publicity it gets them, too :/

anyway I'm off to eat some lunch and then go to work, ttyl!

Don't forget the tax write offs. IDK about other countries but in the USA they can write off donations and get a TON back on their taxes.

Have a nice lunch hun! And a good day at work! :qh:

Not all rich people are bad. Just a laarge percentage of them.
