Nice drawing Serra! the coloring is great! :)

Never thought of using a white gel pen as like a corrector pen, or as making the whites of the eyes etc. Usually when coloring they say to use like a white colored pencil to blend in etc.

I personally don't like coloring with gel pens, I tried it on a coloring page in one of my coloring books and while it was actually really nice and stuff, the pen it self was done for after just one page. and all I did was color in little details..like flowers.

And that's been my experience with gel pens, they don't last that long :(

Wanting to be perfect is what kept me from even trying to draw. Even then, I still take "too long" to make some things look "just right" that I probably don't need to XD

My single white gel pen isn't even half-empty. I only use it for the eyes and little highlights, mainly. I just bought another one because it's from a different brand.

Gel pens are like ... a must have here. Most people at my uni use them o.o

I'm Freaking out! I can't believe (well, I can) that I won last month's Avatar Contest. It's been ages since the last time I did! I made that Sephiroth-ey avatar on a whim after buying the wings and people said he was handsome but I never expected it to win! Aaaaaaaaaaaa
Too bad I can't replicate the avatar now because the lips changed

I took a drawing class two semesters ago called "A Million Right Ways to Draw" and it completely changed the way i looked at drawing. It freed me from worrying and allowed me to just draw. The whole point of that class was that not worrying about doing it the right way is the only way for you to ever actually start making progress and break away from convention. And when we worry about the "right way" sometimes the "right way" is just how everyone is doing it and 9 times out of 10 it's not even a great way to do things anyway lolol.

Worrying about having a nice drawing is what tends to make people hate drawing. Also "bad" drawings are even more important than nice ones because we learn more from the mistakes we make.

And also "realistic" drawing isnt even remotely the only style and people act like it is the only way to have a "good" drawing. Which is bologna. get that elitist bull out of my art world

I agree. I have a friend who keeps trying to teach me how to draw 'in steps', that I have to follow exactly how he draws because that was how he was taught in his art lessons. Well, I tend to do my own thing when I draw I just do what feels right to me. I may take examples from other sources, to get inspiration, but in the end, it's all me.

I think that my drawings are failures at times so I focus on what I hate about it and improve it.

I hate that kind of formulaic approach to art. That's not what art is about. Unless you have a reason for that kind of approach, because sometimes it works but it only works if there's an actual reason for it. It has to be intentional, but most of the time people are just taught that way for the sake of easiness (which is actually counterproductive but whatever)

I dont draw all that often though but i enjoy it when i do hmmmm
I really want to find my tablet because ive been having an urge to make a knuffle but i cant do that without a tablet >:0

Maybe you can try what I do?

I draw on paper, scan, resize on photoshop, then do the rest in SAI then make the background translucent on photoshop.
I use the mouse for lineart and everything o.o

Buuuuuut if you can find the tablet, I'm pretty sure everything will be easier xD

I've done that kind of a thing before and its just not as much fun and im just incompetent with a mouse XD
And i know it's SOMEWHERE unfortunately im great at losing things in my house.
