Last night while I was updating my Twitter with my new comic page, I noticed I had a new follower. A really talented comic artist whom I've been following for a while is following my Twitter
It's not like we haven't had some back and forth but really, this is a complete surprise to me

She's really fun to converse with, even if it's only been through Twitter and Facebook comments. She's actually the one who did the final push for me to do Inktober last year.

I totally agree! I want to be able to draw clean like that. Still have a lot of work in front of me though. Haven't even been actively drawing for 2 years. I really need time and practice ^^;

I like drawing people a lot. I suppressed it for a while, but I've wanted to make a comic ever since I was 14. I remember being told at the time I had to use "my own characters" rather than someone else's. So when I started drawing, I jumped right into doing people. Despite some people thinking that was foolish of me to do without learning some kind of basics first XD

Maybe it is, but I like what I do! And, my opinion is that I draw people pretty well for someone with no formal training XD

i mean the notion that you NEED to go to art school is iffy because some people dont learn like that. I know a lot of amazing artists who are completely self taught.
That being said i think learning all the rules is helpful for me at least. You can't break the rules properly unless you know them after all :3
But i also think its very possible to learn the rules on your own.

i really like figure drawing women whenever i get to in class
But i'm more of an abstract artist stan a figurative one
And most of my work is in the 3d so like??
