You can change how the picture behaves with the text but yeah that can be a huge pain.

Yeah, I know that, it's just word is not terribly good at figuring out the placement and I wouldn't use it anymore to make that kind of document. There's just better tools for it, that are less erratic or at least give you more freedom to overrule their weird decisions.

It depends what the document is for.

If you have an adobe account I assume pdf editing would be an option.

otherwise there's the other office programs.. but yeah I tend not to insert a lot of images into my word documents except when required or for a cover page.

I just use latex nowadays for anything that needs to look good.

Although can it still save in .docx ?

caause I know when applying for jobs here.. they like MS office word format. Which sucks cause the only reason i have a full copy of it is because I'm a student and got it for free. Otherwise I'd have to pay for it or use other freeware which I have libre office for.

I mostly know how to use Word! lol. I don't know how to do anything fancy though.
I also hated trying to put a picture or something in and then the layout getting super messed up. No fun.

I didn't really have to use it much in school and after school I only used it to type out some fanfics, no lay-out ruining images :'P

I had to use it all the time in school. So many papers.
But it was way better than trying to type something up in notepad. That was always super awful. lol.

No, latex is used to generate pdf files. Which is the better format for sharing documents that are not meant to be edited by the recipient, imo, even if I do something in word I save it to pdf if I want to send it to someone. But if people request docx files from you, I guess you can't do much (can't libreoffice save to docx as well though?)...
