light: I agree! I took Spanish for 3 years in high school and one class in college but I'm still beginners level lol My fault though, I have trouble learning language in general.
Audriella: My friends taught my ASL back in elementary school, and I still remember the alphabet :D And "thank you" lol

I feel the same about Spanish, Nan! Had 3 years at school and had a refresher course at university, my certificate says I have the B1 level of European Language Standards, but I feel worse xD

last day of the raffle, winners announced tomorrow! c:
I like learning bits of languages, when I help a foreigner in the store I always ask the proper words for 'please' and 'thank you' etc
Some people have even given me a bill or coin in their currency cause they were happy I was trying to talk to them in their language xD
I own several bills now that I will never use but I like to look at them haha

Nan; I had an informal lunchtime class in elementary school that taught me the alphabet and some basic signs, then a more formal evening class in middle school that wasn’t very helpful, followed by three years in high school.
They all taught different shades of ASL, which was frustrating.
Popo; that’s awesome! And that’s a very cool way to start a collection, of sorts. c:

I used to collect different and special editions of euros, still have 2 maps of those now. But the bills are fun to get because they're random gifts. One man gave me a bill of Ukrainian money and laughed cause I looked so happy with it. He kept telling me 'its not worth much, def not in comparison to euros' etc but I tried to explain that it wasn't the money it was the gift itself that made me happy c':

Popo; hee, that’s so cute. c: I love how something meaningless to one person can cause great joy in another.
I used to collect stamps and loved the window into other cultures. So many pretties. ^o^

I just think its neat, like to know what their currency is called, how much its worth in comparison to my currency, the history of the art on it etc :P
I imagine stamps can be super pretty, esp special editions and seasonal ones

I’ve never really been able to get into currencies. I grew up in a homogeneous place, but my elementary school had a stamp club.
I love animal stamps! First day covers are also really pretty; there’s a stamp AND art.

I think my dad used to collect stamps. I also think he was forced to sell his collection. But I remember when I was a little girl, he would sometimes show me his collection. I remember some stamps with butterflies and sunflowers. He liked to mention the ones with famous people, especially Poles.
Funny how I never think about it and then somebody on kofk mentions stamps and triggers a fond memory
