Sometimes I think that's what I need to do with my art, just go around and give myself some exposure.

I think I'm good enough to do commissions, just not well known enough for anyone to want them XD

I'm just not sure how to get around that while I balance a job though.

Totally get exposure thats the best thing you can do for your practice

Uhhh
go to museums
go through the art tag on tumblr
walk around outside and look at architecture and statues and lanscaping and and posters and ads and um
google art using different tags like mediums or subjects XD

Look at art in different mediums from your own
all forms affect eachother and echo eachother you can learn a lot about your medium from others

@Dem that's more inspiration than exposure. I think Serra means exposure for her own art, as in she doesn't know how to get her art out there in the world for people to notice and want to start buying it. I kind of have the same problem..

@Demareth, yeah, what Ghost says. I don't lack inspiration, I just wish more people knew about my art so I could actually have a chance to sell commissions and such.

@Serra - Hmmm …
I started with making an art shop here ages ago. Got my boost from there then I started getting requests from my friends.
After that, I use Instagram to "advertise" my art (even if I have only around 60 followers )
I barely use DA anymore.

As for the other site ... my thread was flooded with requests for the freebies I was giving away and I had to close it to keep up (I made the thread so I could practice)
It was linked to my IG so people could see samples. And since they're freebies, I can easily post them in my social media to show to other people.

I find IG the most useful place to promote art

Ah yes...I don't have an instagram account and hesitate going that route just because that's somewhere else I have to remember to post. I'll keep it in mind though.

but youre right instagram is also something i see used for showing art a lot

i have a personal one and ive been thinking of making one just for art but i almost like the juxtiposition of everything because it relates to my practice :0
