I'm afraid right now my disposable income is zero. I really shouldn't even have internet, but...
Well, I haven't brought myself to tell them to turn it off quite yet. I keep hoping one of these job places will call me back.

I do not use Da that much, I should try and do commissions as well. But I have to get better at digital art!
I should see if anyone would commission me, but then I haven't done one before. Maybe one day XD

If someone gives you a commission, how do you calculate the income tax & etc from it?

I also should look for job. Though now I'll be going to visit my family, so I do it when I get back. Now there is no sense in it, no one would give me free week right after giving me a job. Or they'd call me when I'm away. Not good either. And my family lives on the other side of the country.
I didn't pay taxes for my commissions. I didn't earn enough to bother with all the paperwork. Also I dunno how it works in US, but in Poland there are different taxes for artists. So You have to check it out.

Hmm, 'kay.
I'm faced with similar problems in that I'm promised to visit various family members and help with various things throughout the year, so it's tricky to find jobs. But really even a week's worth of work is helpful at this point.

Well, You can try doing some cheap commissions. I've seen ppl with... really poor skills. And I mean REALLY poor skills. And they were selling lots of commissions. And that was pretty frustrating, 'cause I wasn't selling anything.

Honestly at this point I'm making pop-up cards and clove oranges to sell at the Saturday farmer's market in a walk-around basket and hope I don't get tossed out. >.< I'm trying lots of things.
The next thing was actually trying to figure out how to put up an Etsy shop rather than dealing with DA; a while ago I came up with some fun things like a pirate garter (it has the skull & crossbones, but the crossbones are tiny sheathed letter-opener baby swords) and some designer bird-houses and the security camera troll (a little doll of a troll that looks like he's a camera-man in a movie film studio, tongue sticking out in concentration as he holds the security camera). I thought maybe if I could sell those (the ones that are mine), I could make replacements for myself, and maybe sell the replacements...
I really don't know.

I see. I was also thinking about Etsy. Though I'd prefer to get some more interest in my art first, 'cause You have to pay to put things there. Dunno. Though it probably would be better for ppl outside of the dA. I don't get much interest outside of dA, but I didn't try much either.

I've never done anything with either place before. It just seemed like it would be easier to go through an established venue like one of those, than to try and put up my own site. >.<

And aki, making a website is actually so fun!
(for school we had to make websites, well, pretend websites, they were never actually on the internet)
