What things are in Japan that are usually not mentioned? I know there's this fish dish with the whole fish I've seen in some live action shows, but I don't think I can eat a fish with its head still there. :mcdead:

It's hard even to explain when half the ingredients don't even have English names.
Most of all I miss every type of udon. You just can't get real udon outside of Japan. The stuff they export shouldn't even be given that holy name...
I miss fu as well, especially raw fu...
There isn't just one dish with the whole fish. There are about 300. Maybe more. It's just that there are so many varieties of similar things that it's indescribable. We don't even eat sushi most of the time, so it's totally weird to me how that's one of the most famous Japanese foods. Sushi is for special occasions, not to be eaten like sandwiches.

I'll shut up now.

Little island, big fish culture. The Japanese didn't eat meat until the meiji era (19th Century), so... That's a long time for developing fish dishes.

Sushi is meant to be expensive ^_^

When we go to Japan, Jess. Your going to have to help me survive.
It's perceptibly not that easy to eat out with a fish allergy :D

But, I suppose I can survive on rice and sweeties :mcargh:

It's okay if you know what you're looking for (and can ask if necessary). Shame you won't be able to enjoy many good things... But... You can't fix your allergies, so *shrugs*

I like fish so I'd probably like a lot of the food there. XD
