~Hot: ahhhhh MDZS! I enjoyed the novel quite a bit. Unfortunately it blew up way too much and the Chinese fandom got really problematic and scary... Which kinda put a damper on the franchise for me D:
The story itself is a very good one though!

I don't know what MDZS is.

MDZS stands for Mo Dao Zu Shi, which translates to "Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation". It's a really famous online BL novel in China. It got adapted to an anime and even live-action in recent years!

If you're into fantasy/drama/mystery/romance, I'd highly recommend it :) The anime is easy to get into, the novel has good free translations online too, the live action has mixed reviews though

Oh yeah they do, they very much do.

Online novels get away with it because it's not officially published, so it kind of gets away from the government control.

However the anime and live action which are both officially broadcasted both got the romance cut off lol... BUT screenwriters have gotten very good at doing Subtext and hints to slither the gay in

Censorship annoys me so much. I hate it.

I like trigger and content warnings, but anything more than that is awful. It makes me so mad hearing about things people wanted to make and then seeing what actually happened. Ugh.

Not really? Mostly it was for me to have a better future. The education competition in China is insane. You can work until you puke and still not get anywhere because everything is corrupt one way or another.

From what I know of the recent media thing, a lot of celebrities got blacklisted for things like "disrespecting the country" and BL adaptations got stopped for being "problematic"? It's a really really complicated thing, because the entertainment industry in China got crazy warped in recent years too... so this isn't completely just due to government censorship //sighs
