But shipping from any where has never been that expensive
Not for a single pair of tights
Plus, importing would suggest that Im re-selling in a company, doesn't it?
I was thinking of sending these tights to an American address and have then shipped to me after :u
It'll definitely be cheaper for sure
I wouldn't be so troubled if their site wasn't so misleading

To protect local businesses because it deters people from buying things from other countries. That's the only explaination i got unless you live in Western Europe. I believe there they are beginning to charge people extra for air travel to cover the carbon emmissions. I'm not sure if the same goes for products flying via airmail but if it does that could be the reason behind it.

Here in Western Europe they're just charging because they can. Because flying something in from Japan doesn't cost over €60,-.
As for the local business? If I couldn't buy it abroad, then I wouldn't have bought it at all, because local businesses here simply don't have it!
And when they do, they have imported it all the same, and charge 50x the original price... so that's not the true reason either... The true reason here is merely because the government needs more money and taxes everything they can. Yesterday they decided (even though they've fallen last month and shouldn't decide anything!) that even the travel compensation you get from your boss, because you have to get to work somehow of course, is going to be taxed. What the hell. That's gonna cost most people over €100,- a month! o.O
And 'importing' doesn't necessarily mean reselling. It just means buying something abroad and having it shipped to where you live. Doesn't matter what you do with it. If you'd be doing it to resell then you'd be charged even more :p

well those were my only guesses. they didn't necasarily have to be correct. I'm not good with politics and foreign afairs.
