Heh, no, things go way deeper than that. In just a few years I have managed to change my future from rocket scientist to cleaning lady really. When I started high school I started at Bilingual VWO, can't get it higher than that. I wanted to be a sea biologist or an airline pilot or a pathologist. And with that education, I was going to be. But yeah. ADHD, puberty, we'll never know what really happened. I messed things up, that's for sure.
But thing is, fixing this is hard. Really, really hard, close to impossible. But not completely impossible. I'll be an airline pilot one day. Watch me. ^_^
As for the loan, there are actually schools in Holland with guarantee funds, so there's no financial risk. But no Dutch flight academy is gonna take me because I don't have a high school diploma. I mean, I know that I can take it, but I've got nothing to prove it...
The Air Force is the only one that takes MBO students. If they take any people at all that is.
Well yeah, exactly. I know a lot of it is my fault... though I think I was just being a teenager. Like that whole bloody school. I just did it by learning Japanese, advanced chemistry research, aviation studies and art. I sort of made my own high school and they didn't agree, since I didn't bother about other subjects - and it annoyed the teachers x'D
Also I couldn't get along with schoolmates and a lot went wrong with that, too. And arguing with teachers was a hobby of mine, too.
But it's not just me. I asked if I could get tested for ADHD. They found it unnecessary. I asked to switch classes. They thought I would mess up even more. I asked for private lessons since I couldn't focus with the rest of the class. They refused. Things like that, you know?
I got tested for ADHD after that. I was found positive and got Ritalin. My grades went up straight away. I stopped taking Ritalin half a year ago and the results are still the same. I don't know if it's actually ADHD or not, I'll never know, but it worked at that time. If only they had tested me before. But to say it in the Dutch way: "Als het kalf verdronken is, dempt men de put."
And they should never have sent me away without a diploma. They should have known.
