I've never used tumblr, but a couple of my friends have one and link their posts to facebook, so looking at their blogs once in a while is pretty much the extent of my tumblr activity. XD;
I get how it could be one of those really distracting time-consuming things though.

It doesn't usually take me too long to catch up on my dash.
It takes longer when I find new people and decide I want to go through ALL of their posts.
I spent almost a week on one girl's blog, and it was only a few months old.

@Squid: It takes me a while to go through my dash since I follow around 70 people. x_x
But it's worth it because they post good stuff that I like. xD
I have about 60 followers too. c:
So I'm pretty happy with my blog and stuff.
I mainly post Rammstein stuff and whatever else I like.
