@mona, @jacob: I don't really participate in NaNo to win (I don't even know what is there to win), I'm trying to write regularly, and having someplace to write down the total wordcount is very motivating. If not for that, I would've given up on yesterday but I ended up writing a few sentences, so that's a win for me.
But yeah, I agree it's not worth it to have a breakdown over NaNo

@jacob: Haha, I clicked like three times total on mule and there it was XD But I'm not as lucky, it's not an item I want. it'll probably go for sale

You win a 50,000 word first draft of a novel also haha.

To be honest I would probably still participate in NaNo anyway if you didn't need to validate with a document at the end. It would be too much extra work to collate all the bits I'm writing in different manuscripts on different days in order to make up the wordcount for validation.

Please feel free to skip my personal rant here because I did not know how long it was going to be when I started typing it out.

Right now I am fuming. I asked for J's help with listening to the new draft of my next book, which he always does, but I always feel like he isn't really engaged. Like he's only barely listening in order to be able to nod at the end of each chapter. I brought this up after reading the first chapter and he tried to say he likes listening to it for about two seconds, but also at the same time wasn't paying attention when I was reading and kept going on about how he couldn't lay comfortably. So then I said I would read it anymore and he was like --_(==)_-- "okay" and rolled over to his back to ignore me.
I got pretty upset with that alone, not mad yet but just sad. I literally told him how I was doubting myself and not thinking that what I did was good enough and he just rolled over, pretty conclusively proving my point that he doesn't care about hearing it. Which means it DOES suck which means I suck and so yep pretty unhappy with that.
Anyway, I tried to say one or two other things to him, like for example at one point Alexa started making weird noises, and I was basically getting a grunt or total silence in response. I said "Wow okay talking to myself" and he claimed he didn't have anything to say.
Fine, whatever. Then while I'm sitting there using my laptop, filling in my bullet journal for the night, and so on he suddenly turns his side light off and curls up to go to sleep. I'm like ????? it's about an hour and a half earlier than when we normally sleep. So I literally asked him if he was going to sleep, and he said yes, and then I had follow-up questions and he went back to silence again or just sighed at me. Again, said about talking to myself. He claimed there was nothing to say again, to which I was like, but I asked you direct questions though?
Anyway he kept on being like that until I was like, you know what, fine, I guess I have to go sleep on the sofa, fucking brilliant, because I'm not done for the day and you want to go to sleep so I can't stay in the bed and work. And also because fuck you, you've been hurtful now. Again no response. I packed up all my stuff and he's just silent. Finally I just yelled at him and told him he needs to put the spare room bed back up tomorrow (we only just took it down after our party) because I don't want to share the room with him again, and then left. So since it's basically impossible to sleep on this uncomfortable sofa in the coldest room in the house, I guess I'm staying up all night and sleeping tomorrow day.

jacob, that sucks!
I totally understand why you are furious. To me it seems that he might have a totally different problem (maybe not even having anything to do with you), but he kind of blames you for it maybe? Or does not want to talk about it at all? I don't know >.< But it totally sucks! Talking doesn't seem to do the thing, so maybe actions (i.e. you sleeping on the other bed) might shake him? Wow, so annoying, honestly.

Wow, jacob, I'm sorry!

He behaved like total shit. If he doesn't care for lsitening to you read your work, then he should've said so a long time ago, and TACTFULLY, at least say "I'm happy writing is your thing, but the things you write about don't interest me". Something, geez. He's so insensitive to your needs. And then he's being all "fuck you and your work, I'm going to sleep because I feel like being a total prick to you", what a shit. What the hell is wrong with him? Does he even know what a conversations is? A discussion? Words? Communication is key in a relationship and he totally just lies belly up and his balls danging like I don't give a damn. This is NOT a supportive partner.
Ash at least asks me if I've written something and wants to read this stuff. Sure, he might later tell me he didn't like it at all (and not being sensitive about it either), but at least he's being curious and interested. I can at least appreciate that. What the hell is J doing? Like what the hell?

Thanks guys. I am still a little furious. In the end I managed to get to sleep around 3am, first by having a bath that made me all sleepy, so that was kind of alright (if I am honest, I don't often sleep before then anyway, my sleeping pattern is screwed). He didn't say anything before getting up to go out this morning - I heard him getting up because I was sleeping fairly lightly, but he kind of approached my door, presumably looked in (I wear an eyemask to sleep so I couldn't see) and then crept away again and left. After that I went back to the real bed (it was about 6.30am) and got a few more hours sleep.
So far no texts or calls from him. I am not going to message him. It's so exhausting being the one to always start the conversation.

I agree there is probably something going on that he won't talk about but that's not my fault if I don't know about it. I mean, geez. Tell me. Instead he is just evasive and silent.
You know what happened recently? We were watching Insatiable which has a lot of content about eating disorders. He casually went "Oh I used to do that when I had an eating disorder".
I just stared at him. This was when we first got together, over the course of the first year/year and a half I started to notice his behaviour with food changing and I got really worried about him. I felt like he was hiding the fact that he was barely eating and he was really shady about it. I tried to confront him many times and he always made a scene and said that I was being paranoid and nothing was wrong. I was literally losing sleep over this because I was so scared that he was going to harm himself some way and didn't know how I could help him. Eventually it went away because we moved in together and I was cooking all his meals and watching him eat them, so I felt more secure that he was really eating and not purging or anything.
Welp, here we at last know that I was right. I pointed all this out to him and he was just like, shrug, yeah. And then laughed about it. Just.... gah.
