Do you know, I have no idea how to explain this? It's just a part of my normal so finding the right words ...

Basically she can sense what weather it's going to be. That's about as basic as I can explain it. :}

I don't know a whole bunch about witches and witchcraft, but my dad said he's dabbled in witchcraft.
My mom said she called him her "Brujo" which is basically Spanish for a male witch/warlock.
There's actually a store in Houston where they sell things for witchcraft.
My cousin used to take us there.
I bought a book about merfolk there that was incredibly overpriced >8u
But it's a cool store. I guess it still exists xD

@Dream: That's cool :mcglee: I was imagining a wind whisperer or something, idk why XD

@Moi: Did you dad ever tell you what exactly he dabbled into?
What was in that merfolk book, how long can one go on about merfolk? XD

I know he did stuff to make my mom only love him xD
I don't remember what he did, but it had something to do with using my mom's hair.

Well, it wasn't that big of a book, but it had information on merfolk from all kinds of countries.
It talked about legends and physical features and stuff and they all looked different - but all kinds of countries have tales of merfolk.
It was a good book, but wasn't worth what it was priced at to me xD

A love ritual, that's sweet :mccute:

Oh, I didn't think other countries had such different legends. But I guess it makes sense. Too bad it was too expensive for the content.

I think it was more selfish and obsessive than sweet 8u

Yeah, I didn't realize it either until I read it.

Its actually interesting because all kinds of cultures have similar creatures.
But typically they all stem from human fears and that's why they're similar.
Like when you don't want your kids out late and running wild - you tell them something will get them to scare them into being home on time.

There's all kinds of versions of The Vanishing Hitchhiker for example.
Someone driving at night, seeing a woman (usually), picking her up, her disappearing.

And it's like...do things like that actually happen?
So many people from so many places say they've experienced it.

dream, does your mum have any characteristics ? (I don't mean the stereotype ones like red hair or whatever, just anything ... 'unusual'?)
Sorry, I have never heard somebody saying that he/she knows a real witch.

And indeed, some legends arise because of unexplainable fear.

I don't know, only because many people say they've seen or done this or that I don't believe them until I have proof.

@Moi: That was actually my second thought xD

Do you think mermaids also stem from fear?
Because stuff like the monster in your closet, the vanishing hitchhiker or even la Llorona, Bloody Mary, slender man etc. sound like urban legends than anything to me.

Actually most of my family has red hair in different gradations. I myself am dark auburn (most people think it's brown) with green eyes (The only one in my family!).
Blue and Gray eyes are more common in my family though.

I love Urban legends, and anything from mythology. :}

Red hair is awesome. There's one person in my family with red hair (or more in my grandma's family, it's one of her nieces)

I love mythologies but I'm rather ambivalent about urban legends. they can be inspiring storywise but other than that I'll probably either roll my eyes or shrug at them. I'll say 'ew, nope' at best xD
