Brilliant! Thank you so much for this. I have been wanting one for a while but didn't know if there was one in existence yet. (It's hard to tell what items will go with each other sometimes!) This makes me incredibly happy. :)

I understand this is a problem, but since hair doesn't have inventory images this is the only way for it to work. What I can suggest to you is to simply open The Cutting Crew in a second tab while using the Dream Avatar Creator where you can look up the names of the hair by hovering your courser over them.
Um, well. Maybe (I mean, if it's possible? I don't know how coding this stuff works..) there could be little icons or thumbnails of how it looks in The Cutting Crew? Smaller than the original ones to fit it, and perhaps in a different tab? I'm not sure where you'd put it, though..
It's just the opinion of one person though, haha.

Something I noticed is that well,
I started with Create from current. My current avi is holding a Paper Windmill. It wasn't until a while later, after adding and taking off Clothing and Head Stuff items that I noticed the Paper Windmill wasn't listed in the Currently worn list, so that I could remove it. Only after a clicked on the Paper Windmill from the avatar creator inventoryto take it off and put it back on did it show up in the list.
Oh, I just tried again. I started with Create from current. Then went straight to the Currently worn list, and I don't see Paper Windmill, even though it shows up in the avatar image itself. So maybe it has something to do with Hand Items in general, or just the Paper Windmill (New Cream)?
I also checked to see if the Wardrobe did the same thing, but I do see the Paper Windmill item in the Currently worn list right away, so maybe it's just something that has to do with the Create from current feature. owo;
