well they started work on it last year. the place was a disaster. It was once a landfill but they didn't follow procedures so there are burried drums of waste and stuff seeping into the surrounding water. what makes it worse is there's a residential area nearby

Well the place became a dump site in the mid 1950's and there weren't too many regulations back then for sanitary landfills but in the 1960's when regulations started getting inforced, this site didn't follow them. Eventually they were closed down im the 80's and a small company built on the property without knowing how messed up it was. they had to constantly fill fissures in the ground caused by underground fires. Eventually the EPA stepped in the 90's and did a full analysis on the place. It was worse than they thought.

yeah that's usually motivation for most people to get the hell off the property. i just looke up a list of just basic superfund sites for Massachusetts and New Hampshire and the MA list is twice as long as the NH list. There are three minor superfunds in my town currently
