there are three levels that a contaminated site can be clasified as. the lowest level is called "brown site" the next one is "superfund site" and then if the place is really messed up it becomes a "National Priority List superfund"
small superfunds and brown sites can be about as contaminated as a small landfill or factory.

yeah. i just found a small superfund in my neighboring town that i pass by all the time. Its in a historic factory.

not at the moment. one floor of the building is contaminated with messed up chemicals and acids. it wouldn't take much to clean it up though. its a historic building too so they can't just tear it down and use that as an excuse for taking so long. use this page to find superfund site in your area if you live in the US
