The Sailor Moon ones aren't chibi xD
They have chibi SM ones for $16.
There's like DBZ, Evangelion, Sword Art Online, Sailor Moon, and such.
Niiiiiiiiiice 8u

Oh, I know! XD I'm just not sure I ever saw a Sailor Moon fig that expensive, but I haven't exactly looked around for any, either.
Ahh okay, kinda mainstream stuff. o: Better than nothin'!
Dem abs though. I wish I could afford the smaller true end version as well, he has such a nice smile and DEM ABS. Seriously.
I'd feel bad taking off his cape, it's so nice.

\o/ Glorious.
asdf. I love figures, but I don't understand the prices. They're very beautiful and well-done but 200$? I am die. I'm sure 99% of that is just knowing that fans would dish out for them.
My eternal figure sorrow is that I missed the Urf figurine from League of Legends. ETERNAL. SORROW.

It's a shit-ton of work. It's art. Maybe it's just 'cause I'm an artist myself, but I'm willing to pay a lot of money for art. I think it's ridiculous that people will do fullbody CGs with backgrounds etc for $25. That seems like such a fucking rip-off to the artist. I can make more than that passing out flyers, and probably in much less time.
If art got paid by the hour like most jobs, they would make way more. XP
Some people spend $3k on what I think are less than stellar paintings, I will spend 20k Y on what I think is one of the most incredible figures I've ever seen. Though this one is practically a statue.
I honestly found most of that post pretty insulting, so I'm kind of upset. <_<
That sucks, I remember you showing me that one. :c

It is art. And I know that a lot of work goes into them, but I'm sure that no one would want to buy them for 200$ if they weren't attached to the show or the character.
It is unfair to the artist. But while I respect the work that goes into a product, I'm not paying for the work, I'm paying for the end product. And this applies to pretty much anything I buy- If I was paying for the work that went into a phone instead of the end product, I wouldn't buy one for over 10$. 8I;;

I might have confused them with something else, but I know it was over $100 for one.
I saw this thing the other day that said "When you buy art, you're not just buying the piece, but all the blood, sweat, and tears the artist put into making it."

But why should that apply only to art? Work goes into every product. And in the end, no one is paid for how much effort and time goes into their product- Just how much their product is worth standing alone in the end.

I can greatly agree with that saying, Moi. XD And nah I'm pretty sure they are, I just don't follow Sailor Moon stuff so it kind of surprised me. o;
I dunno, though. I see some really nice original character figures that go for a lot. I only find out about them long after they're released though since I don't really.. keep a watch on anything but GSC. XD
Like we've been talking about on Skype tho, some things can definitely sell just because of the fandom or character, I agree.
To my knowledge Ren isn't the most popular route character for DMMd, so I was surprised to see him get a figure. o:

Ahh your last post hurts me again, lol.. I think it's hard to compare things which are bought for pleasure as opposed to practicality or daily use (cars, phones, etc), though.
Food is like this too, actually, you pay more for stuff that takes more time and effort to make. You can buy shitty mass-produced in a factory pasta for much less, or buy something like Martelli. xD You can pay $12 for 'olive oil' that honestly just tastes like grease, or $50 for a unique, small batch olive oil.

:c I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be hurtful or anything- I'm just another consumer, and this is just how I buy things.
I agree with you on the comparison between something that's mass-produced and something that's handmade. But then I'd pay more for the handmade product because the end product is higher quality- its worth more. But if the handmade product was worse than or only as good as the mass-produced product, I wouldn't pay more just because it was handmade.
I just don't think "handmade" or "hard work" alone is worth anything special. But if someone's personal touch can make something better, then I absolutely agree that they get to charge more. I just don't think "handmade" and "quality" always go hand in hand.

Well again, as an artist myself, I would be hurt if someone discredited the amount of work I put into something. XD;; But I definitely don't mean to say that it always means high quality, or whatever. I think that might be a trend, but not a fact. Someone could spend hours drawing a manga or doujin and still have drawings that look like they were done by a 5 year old.
I'm not meaning to say the hard work etc = quality, necessarily. owo But using the Ren fig as an example, I think it's quality is pretty evident.
You gotta pay the sculptors and painters that make it though, like any other product. Or any other job. Places that pay their employees less can usually sell their stuff for less, like Amazon. Heck, one reason the prices at Z's can be higher is because all employees, and I mean ALL EMPLOYEES, actually get a decent wage. I even have GainShare. XD
Anyway, I was mostly upset because I felt like you were dismissing the figure as something of worth. Some people value art a lot, some don't. I do, and I think it's a fair price for the amount of detail and work that goes into it, and because the end product is pretty fucking gorgeous.
(I actually saw many comments on the Aoba fig as well as Ren's from people who'd never played the game, they just wanted it because it looked amazing. Some of them didn't even like BL. XD)
