ohhh indian cuisine has something similar. sesame and wheat are heating foods, better eaten in winter. buttermilk and fermented rice are cooling foods eaten in summer. eating dates replenishes the iron in your blood. eating jaggery is good for your periods too. and eating curd at night is a bad idea because it's harder for you to digest. coffee, tea and nervous stimulants in general are frowned upon but widely drunk lol. there's also stuff like 'positive pranic' and 'negative pranic' foods for what's good and bad for you, like eggplant is considered unhealthy.

We buy all our herbs at reputable chinese traditional medicine stores. My mom would refuse to buy herbs like that anywhere else. XD she’s very picky about it.

But food culture is very different among different cultures. Like most western people wouldn’t care if two foods clashed nor would they even know WHICH foods would clash. Something like you shouldn’t eat lamb and green mung beans is probably something no one will really know about it unless you’re part of a certain food culture. XD;;

Well i THINK it was lamb and green mung or soy beans or something…8U or like lamb and watermelon….or like pumpkin. Anyways, my mom looked it up and its apparently not good…8U like too much of this might give you a nosebleed or some other temporary ailment/digestive problem because its too 宝 (bao)…i guess that could possibly be translated, in english, as “too rich”…8U i dunno, its hard to explain…?

Cultural stuff is often untraslatable, and most of the times makes no sense in any other culture.
Here we say you can't drink water when you are eating octopus. Don't ask me why xD

I think the clashes I've heard of all mainly revolve around seafood. Ive been told you're not supposed to eat shellfish like crab and shrimp with persimmon because it can lead to food poisoning?

Some other mixes usually has to do with foods cancelling each other's good properties out or something. Like cucumbers apparently can cancel out the good VC in tomatoes?

there's also the reverse, of some ingredients neutralising an irritant in the food. like elephant yam usually irritates my tongue, but not when it's cooked in a mustard malabar spinach curry. my mom says it might be the tamarind in the curry but she's not sure, it might be one of the other ingredients, or a combination of them. i can't eat elephant yam cooked any other way.

Natsu: ive heard that too, but the thing is this: will you ACTUALLY be able to eat both those clash type foods together? XD like persimmons are rare enough unless they’re in season so what are the odds of eating something clashing it. XD;;

But yeah, food is interesting…8U
