Flavored packet oatmeal is an acquired taste that leaves after you reach the age of reason. I have a box of peaches and creme oatmeal that I kind of regret, as I could have made better tasting stuff from scratch. I don't think I have ever used fresh strawberries when cooking oatmeal. Normally I use strawberries from the jar.

Flavoured packet oatmeal? Strawberries in jars? :mcconf: these are all new to me.. :mcshock: The only time i've eaten strawberries from a jar is when i've had strawberry jam, is that the same thing you're talking about? Or can you actually buy strawberries in jars?

Well, by the time you preserve strawberries by canning them in jars, they're practically strawberry jam already. So the difference is rather minute, in my opinion.
Speaking of jams and how it comes in jars...

So I live in the USA, right? And cranberry jam (and jelly) is a thing here. But... it comes in cans. Not jars. And no other jam or jelly comes in cans.

I can't figure it out?

It's this one odd exception, and no one ever explains why the cranberry jelly comes in a can and every other kind of jelly comes in a jar.

Does anyone here happen to know the reason for this oddity?

Jam has fruits bits in it and jelly is smooth. I think...

I think cranberry sauce comes in a can because it is easier to slice and distribute around the table during holiday dinners maybe? I only use it during the holidays so that's my only logical answer.

You can get strawberries in a jar like the peach slices in a jar with out it being jam-ified. They just don't taste as nice as peaches in a jar.

You know, I am actually accumulating a lot of frosted donuts, trying to get vegetables for the Wuffels! I'm pretty excited to see how close it comes to the next Candy Caravan goal, when Grog comes back in November.

That sounded so interesting that I decided to google it, and have been watching images of cranberry jams for the past 10 min. LOL
