hi!
sorry I haven't replied for a long time, it's been a stressful period

oh cover design is such a cirous thing! I am always amazed by how the artists manage to come up with an accurate cover without just drawing the main character!

Ah, that's quite alright; we are very much glad to have you back!

Aha, I'm not to fickle when it comes to covers in general, provided that it's visually appealing. I seem to like the ones that have a symbol or a background of sorts best, though.

I don't think I have a particular aesthetics preference. but sometimes more abstract covers have just so much message! I think I saw a post with different book covers that just made me gasp at how the cover complemets the content, but I can't remeber where it was :(

Nice avatar, Alice.

Aha, I get that.

Ugh, I've been trying to log in to a mule... it's not so important, but it drives me nuts not to remember the pass or the email. *facepalm*

@Mikael; Sometimes--I have vertigo and heat is one of the things that tends to set it off. I can't handle humidity at all. XD And oh cool! That would be nice to see I think. I'd love to visit some gardens, myself..

Ahh I see, sounds kind of relaxing. o: That's cool you got to help with the shop! Were they Church related goods or just fun stuff?

Alright, sounds good! XD

Ah, that makes sense. My cousin is sensitive to heat. As a child, he'd get nosebleeds all the time.

The gardens sounds good.

The snacks weren't church-related, but the shirts and CDs were... I mean, they were Christian. XD

How's your day going so far today?

Oh, I haven't, but are they any good? [Oh...you didn't read them either, pfft.] I read Princess Academy on chance, and found that I actually enjoyed it to some extent.

I know what you mean about the covers. My cover of the first book has a picture of a girl standing in front of something... a castle or a wall. It's boxed up, so I can't much recall it. I like the cover design in your links, though.

Aha, yes, they influence me if I don't know the book. That's why it took me, like, fifteen or twenty years to read "The Giver" --I was not interested in the picture of an old man. After I read it [thanks to a friend], I quickly snatched up the other books. It also took me a long time to read "The Hobbit" because of an ugly cover, but I enjoyed the book when I finally got around to it.

Sometimes, a cover is really nice, but the content is disappoint. Geez, that's sad.
Mhm, they're general examples of unfairness characters themselves face and examples of sexism particularly would be in the same vein. :3

Ahh, I read The Giver in 5th grade (I think) for class! I liked it enough to remember its title (I'm so bad at that.) but I haven't given it much thought since then.
And I only recently - in the last month - learned that it was a series! :mcomg: My teacher didn't say anything about that! >_>

Especially in fantasy, awesome covers are often too good to be true. v_v

I had blueberry jam on a pancake for breakfast and it was very good. -3- The rest of my day didn't go as well because I was tired and so got frustrated more easily, but tomorrow will be better!

I really enjoyed the Giver and its series. :) The series bit came over time, so it's not surprising that not everyone knows about it. I also want to watch the movie for it eventually, but, eh, I'll wait for an opportunity.

Ah, yeah... it's kinda like anime openings in that way --sometimes an anime has a really great opening, but when you watch it, it's not as exciting. *facepalm* Katekyo Hitman Reborn was like that for me.

Mmm... blueberry jam... Yes, I hope tomorrow will be better for both of us, aha.

thanks, Mika!

@Saloiq: do you mean that fantasy covers are mostly not that impressive? if that, I agree!

I think she meant that the covers for fantasy novels are often more impressive than the books. I like the cover for my favorite series, "The Thief". It doesn't show faces, but features part of one of the characters of the books [like hands or shoulders] --it's like part of a frame, and it's pretty neat.

I also like the cover for the "Foundling" series by DM Cornish, which I think represents the world very well.
