Angel took a seat and placed a light hand on her forehead. She only shook her head and lifted her head to see him through her lacy teal hair, then slowly stood again after calming herself. "Nothing to fret, kind prince." She said in a soft voice with a gentle smile. Dorian was a guest in her kingdom, she wouldn't trouble him with her problems and rivaling kingdoms. She stood tell and continued to wear her smile. "You were interested in my duties?" Angel asked curiously, then motioned for him to follower as she left the dinning room and started down the hall.

Her first duty as princess, and since her mother was currently unable, was to meet with the council. Fun. When she thought about it though- she wasn't sure if it would upset the balance by bringing the young prince. Why hadn't she thought of that during breakfast. Then again..the council usually gave more a notice. They had sent notice a day before Dorian's arrival.. Angel arrived at the throne room doors and sighed quietly, glancing at Dorain. "I'll have to take my mother's place among the council, you are welcome to join so long as you stay close to me..." She murmured softly.

(might end up time-skipping.. if i can't remember soon- also, feel free to control a councilmen and this part was just kind of spontanious on my part ^^'')

Dorian nodded as she told him not to fret. He guessed it was better to not interfere too much with this country's politics, when they had yet to educate him on the matter. He didn't even know how big of a role he'd have himself in ruling this kingdom. Would most of the responsibility still lie with Angel?

He nodded again when asked about her duties. "I'd like to see how this kingdom works. It has so far been very different than my own." He explained as he followed Angel. When they arrived and she told him to stay close he nodded and smiled. "Then I'll try my best not to leave your side."

Angel relaxed a little when he agreed to stay at her side. It was high time to inform the council of her arrangement, and of Prince Nix's intentions to soil her mother's wishes. She could not let that happen. Taking a steady breath, she opened the doors of the meeting room and slowly approached her chair, motioning Dorian to sit in the empty chair beside her. There was only a few people in the room, but they were still very powerful people. Royal advisor's from neighboring kingdoms. "Good morning, young princess." A female greeted. Angel curtsied like a lady then sat.

"Fair councilmen of the kingdoms, it appears that word of my betrothal has leaked..I'm not sure how but I might as well explain my mother's wishes." Angel spoke. The advisors murmured among themselves. The princess cleared her throat to reclaim their attention. "My mother isn't recovering from her illness, and I fear she doesn't have much time remaining.. Nothing is set in stone- but she has extended an invitation to the Northern kingdom-" Finding herself at a loss of words since she wasn't sure of what to say about the relationship between herself and Dorian.. It didn't help that the advisors were murmuring among themselves again.

Dorian smiled and followed Angel he noticed how she relaxed slightly at his presence. That seemed good. Maybe him being there would help. He followed her lead, making a small bow when they greeted the advisers. Then he took the seat next to her. He looked up as she halted her speech. Was there something wrong? He frowned a bit at the mummering in the background. Kind of rude.

He cleared his threat and all attention went to him. "Councilmen, I know that my engagement to your princess may seem a bit rushed in your eyes, but truth of the matter is that the Nothern Kingdom is -"

"How many spies have you here?" Dorian blinked at the sudden interruption. He looked at an elderly mad who looked at him suspiciously. Actually they all did. Oh, so that was their problem. He sighed. "I ha e no spies, sir." He said and smiled. "I only have a wolf."

Angel was quite taken back by the question directed at Dorian. Northern spies? She couldn't believe her ears. "How dare you ask such a thing. You are in my court and such nonsense will not be tolerated." She spoke, her attitude changing to a much more concentrated and less nervous. "How can you be so blind, princess?" A councilman voiced. This was becoming bothersome. "Wise councilmen, my mother has reigned this kingdom for several years even after the death of my father, her husband, the most respected king this land has ever had- your king risked his life to fight during the war between our precious dragons and the demons that threatened our kingdom, and died protecting us..and she has done nothing but keep this kingdom standing tall after the tragic war ended." She spoke, her dark green eyes beginning to burn as she forced back the tears. A few of the councilmen averted their eyes shamefully, but the others seemed to think her speech was pointless. They were also not as old as the others.

Angel took a moment to calm herself and looked to the advisors once more. "Please, continue to trust my mother.. I think my mother is just trying to expand our horizon by forming an alliance with the north. We as a kingdom cannot stand up on our own for much longer..." The other matter that needed to be discussed was Nix and what he pulled earlier- but not until everyone could see eye to eyes on the current discussion.

Dorian was sad that the questions directed towards him, had caused Angel to react so strongly, though it was probably more because of the hard topic of her dad's death, and the idea that her mother would soon follow. He took her hand in his as his attempt to comfort her.

Then he turned to the councilmen. "I know many of you are wary of my kingdom." He started. "You kingdom only ever interfere in dire times. You people are bad omens." An younger woman muttered. Dorian stood up. "My people are wardens, guardian, keepers. We exist with the intention to preserve peace." He said and smiled. "I'm not here to tell you of an unknown evil or a bad omen to come. I'm here to help your kingdom and save it from a war you can't handle on your own."

He looked at Angel. "With this alliance, the northern troops will aid this kingdom." He said. "I will keep your queen safe, and if you don't trust a Man from the north to be your king, then I'll relinquish my title and let Angel be the ruler." He said. That started a lot of muttering among the council

Angel's heart fluttered a little when Dorian looked at her, after speaking his own mind about the situation, and she offered him a soft smile. She gave his hand a gentle squeeze and she sniffed as tears brimmed her lower eyelids. "I..can't rule without a king.." She murmured quietly. Maybe it was the pride he seemed to have in his role, or maybe it was just the way he made her feel at peace when he was beside her. In her heart, she had decided she wanted to wed this northern prince. Just not yet.. They still had some kinks to work out.

"As much as I want you all to come to an agreement- there are more pressing matter to discuss." Angel spoke, slowly releasing the prince's hand and stood, facing the council. "Princes Phoenix of the Fire Kingdom has returned and seems to want to steal my mother's throne. If you want to talk about bad omens, then Nix is a perfect example. He will drive this kingdom into the sand beneath us." She spoke, happy to see the advisors come to an agreement on that. "Is he planning a war against us?" An advisor questioned. Angel glanced at him and shook her head lightly. "I honestly don't know what he is planning..but he won't rest until he gets what he wants." She responded.

Dorian hummed. "The fire kingdoms are known for their warriors, but they lack in tactics or brains." He said more to himself than to the others. "What he wants should be straight forward, I'd say." He looked at Angel. "This kingdom have a very good strategic location to attack other kingdoms." He said and sighed.

"This prince, he must have said something, when you met with him this morning." He said and turned to Angel. "Was there anything that indicates his intention?"

"You met with him?" An advisor asked, raising an eyebrow. Angel scoffed lightly. "More like he rudely barged into the castle, demanding an audience with my mother." She answered calmly. Angel sighed and glanced at Dorian, then back at the councilmen. "All I know is that he has promised to return..for me.." She said in a hushed murmur, knowing the ill intentions he had for her family. The councilmen once again murmured among themselves about what to do.

Dorian looked at her, it seemed like Angel didn't like this prince, maybe he was a denied suitor. It made him wonder why he had been accepted. However, he didn't need to voice this with an audience. He clapped his hands. "As long as Nix's intentions are unknown, we should be wary. If war is brewing in the horizon, we can't afford the man power to investigate what they are planning."

He looked at Angel. "I suggest that we tighten the security around the castle, for now." He said. He'd need to send word to his parents about this Phoenix. Maybe they'd know more.
