Maybe I just believe people are wanting to do good in general, but I really think that most doctors did not just pick that study 'cause they'd want to earn loads of money, 'cause I don't think it's an easy study. It takes a lot of time and dedication. Maybe people change and there are probably exeptions, but in general it's a big "I wanna help the people" feeling in them.

I also don't think a 2nd opinon would be different on purpose, one doctor can have more experience with certain diseases/health problems, that they can more easily give the right diagnosis. Loads of their knowledge is based on experience and that's just different for every person.

I think Moi must be in the US (?) 'cause really, I don't see the whole doctor thing as a waste of money or being ridicilously expensive, but... well... EU health insurance. <3 In general not a bad thing I believe. :)

Yeah, I don't think doctors do bad diagnosis on purpose, although some of them may be misinformed or not up-to-date.
It's just that often there are several likely problems for the same symptoms - that's why you can't trust Dr. Google, and you need the doctor's expert mind.

Doctors don't have to think alike, and even us as patients may provide different information which might point to different issues.
BUT disregarding completely use posibility, specially one that the patient is worried about, seems unprofessional to me.

Yeah, health insurance can be quite different in different countries.
I'm glad to live in a country where it's free, even if that means that more often than not there is a waiting list.

Amura: That's pretty interesting. I kinda of believe in karma, but I don't know about curses u8
Curses I feel like are more paranoia based.
Like if you think something will happen, it will.
Karma seems more...realistic?
Like when someone does something bad and karma just immediately gets their ass u8
Then again, there are good people who just get the worst back :\

Yeah, it's likely a looooong chain of passed down behavior. My mom was always snappy to me and I hated it, but I turned out snappy too. And my sister is getting snappy xD

Mem: Yeeeah it takes more than one phone call to give a diagnosis. Even when I go to the doctor, they'll send me to get lab work done before saying something :\

jacobgrey: That's a lot of pages xD

My bestie has OCD 8u
She's told me about it a few times.

Maybe we should all dress up in disguises and pretend to be interested in your flat so it gets more attention and more people interested 8u

I don't believe in karma any more than I do in curses. Or religion.
I've got a pragmatical scientific mind, and while I can accept and respect that they are part of the understanding some people have of the world around them but I can't get to really believe in them.

So you get bids on your flat? And you choose whether to accept them or not?
Here it works all the way around, the seller sets a price and the buyer decides whether to buy or not.

Karma is a little more complex than just "instant punishment". First of all, there's good and bad karma. Second of all, it's not always instant. In hinduism and buddhism it's also passed from previous lifetimes and I believe there's generational karma as well, from your ancestors. It also doesn't deal equally to the "blame"/"good deed". for example someone did something really horrible, but nothing as bad happens to them, instead they endure small misfortunes one after the other. Same gos for good deeds being rewarded. You could get a huge blessing just from "accumulating" many small good deeds.

Curses are pretty much a self fulfilling prophecy. All it takes is for you to not give a fuck or just pull out an old-fashioned:

Maybe do a protective ritual/spell if you believe in that kind of stuff and you're good to go. :mcwink:

@jacob: Well, I hope you enjoyed catching up :mclol:

Congrats on the diagnosis! :mcglee: Were you trying to get it or it just kind of happened randomly?

Still crossing my fingers for your flat getting sold soon! :qh:

I know karma's not always instant, it's just the fact that it can happen really fast xD
I remember laughing at this woman who tripped over a curb and 5 minutes later, I tripped over the same curb.
I was like "I'm sorry uB"

My dad used to be dabble in witchcraft and I think my cousin did too.
There's a witchcraft store in Houston that I've been to a few times.
They sell books and herbs and that type of stuff.

I actually remember this creepy story I read years ago pertaining to witchcraft and revenge/curse/karma if anyone is interested. I know not everyone likes horror xD

Yeah, but it can last lifetimes, too :D

Both my parents were interested in witchy stuff. Probably that's why I'm into it too. I practice some simple witchcraft myself, but most of it happens in my mind, like mindset and manifestation (I guess I could call myself a mind witch, but Idk and I don't really care about those labels). Scripting does help with that though. With more outside stuff I tend to use candle magick, sometimes sigils. But it's all still basically about intention and you wouldn't need all those external aids.
I also do divination with tarot, oracle cards and a pendulum, but that's not actually magick, just practicing intuition and reading symbols.
I tried using herbs, but that's still all about intention anyways. All magick is xD

@Jolien I think doctors are like any other kind of people... there are good people and bad people who do that job XD Honestly having a chronic illness... I was misdiagnosed and made to feel stupid for 15 years before I finally found someone who would listen to me and believe me when I talked about my symptoms. So thanks to experience, I have the opposite outlook. I think most doctors are lazy and don't care as much as they should, and they just want to get through their caseload for the day and go home, so they'll send you away without properly reading your notes or doing investigation. And sometimes you get that lucky one who actually cares about people enough to put the effort in. And I'm in the UK, not the US :mcheh: Sometimes I think that having a set salary with the NHS makes them unmotivated to run more tests or do more for you. I still prefer our healthcare system though. I wouldn't even be able to afford meds if I was in the US, let alone all the tests I've had in my life.

@Moi haha! If that would work, I would welcome you round :D

@Amura I believe it's probably the same way round as for you. We set the price when we put it on the market. But people are free to come forward with a lower price or try to negotiate if they want to.

@Mem thanks! It happened randomly XD I was doing some free therapy sessions that we get on the NHS for being pregnant. I thought I might as well because of all the stuff that happened with my parents, I didn't want to pass it on. And the initial assessment guy said "Okay, we'll just do some assessment forms, you probably won't flag up anything but..." and then ten minutes later "OKAY YOU DEFINITELY HAVE STRONG OCD" rofl

I kind of like the aesthetic of witchy stuff more than believe in it haha. I like the look of ouija boards and tarot cards for example. I always want to get those custom artist decks you can find online but they're always so expensive. I guess because they are so pretty, but still XD

@jacob:
Yeah, buying/selling here works like that.
I don't have much experience, we only bought a flat once. We used to rent.
And the one time we bought we did not haggle, because we are not that type. But I think it's quite frequent, yes.

I've always been kinda curious about OCD.
I tend towards obsesion (it runs in my blood) and only slightly towards compulsion, I don't think I have OCD but it's in some aspects close to the way my mind works - therefore interesting.

I definitely didn't think I had OCD before because I was a bit deceived about what the signs were, I guess, haha. I thought of it being things like obsessive cleaning, or having to turn off a light switch a certain number of times before being able to go to sleep. Or having to go back home and check the oven has been turned off five times before you can actually leave. But I don't do those kinds of things, it manifests differently.
We started out talking about one kind of behaviour I have, which is intrusive thoughts and avoidance behaviours. And it led on from there because the therapist was like, well, tell me about your normal routine around those things and I'd be like "Well, as I'm counting out all of the steps over and over again in my head" and she's like "woah okay hold on so this is another OCD behaviour right there" XD I thought it was just me being a weirdo/struggling to stay focused with having to count everything, I didn't think of it as OCD.
