Changing soil is pertinent for plants that intake nutrients fast, actually. It really depends on what type of plants you have. Sometimes adding fertilizer instead of just changing the soil can hurt a plant rather than help it.

Then again, using the right fertilizer might be an issue if you end up killing plants off with it. I have a friend who has that issue but mainly she just doesn't take very good care of plants so she kind of gave up lol (to be fair though, she lives in a very cold climate and hasn't tried growing plants that do well in the cold i think)

I never change soil on my plants, and I am pretty good at keeping them alive.

I have some lovely aloe, clovers, holly, air plants, bonsai trees, peace lilies, and tons of other species outside in the back and front yard. Over watering is the biggest killer, I have found.

I also never change soil and I have like 50+ plants. :mcheh: (But I don't keep my plants in soil to begin with, but in expanded clay aggregate, but I also never change that)

That sounds cool. Would love to see pics of what they look like in the clay.

Most often it's forgetting to water them or just the extreme cold weather that has killed our plants. Because we can't have room for them inside here. At some of our last homes we couldn't afford to have the heating on all the time so they also died from cold when they were inside XD
Also one time we planted herbs and stuff in a little planter outside and squirrels ate all of them~ I wasn't totally mad, squirrels are cute, I hope they tasted good for them.

My mom's basement suite is where we have the laundry room, and we like to have plants in the window there but it gets so cold down there I end up bringing them to my place on the main floor so they don't die. :mcheh: :qh: They should be okay in the summer months, hopefully.

This is interesting! First we heard from all of the people with a black thumb who have trouble keeping plants alive, now we are hearing from the people with a green thumb who are good with plants....
I wish I had a green thumb like you guys. I tend to only do well with perennials that go outside. Indoor plants and annuals require a level of care I just don't ever end up giving them.

Omg clay! Pics please! If you don't mind that is. I haven't tried that myself just yet but it seems like it would be nice~

I just replanted some holly plants outside and am hoping they do okay in their new spot.
