That sounds like a good idea Nan. They make fake plants so real looking these days you almost can't tell the difference.

That's true. My friend bought a plant she thought was fake and as she was putting it in her car she found out it was real via dirt getting everywhere as she laid it on its side.
I've started doing plants in jars as I can never remember to water them. That's been going good so far. I want to see if I can do fruits and vegetables. When I was looking it up, it was mentioned that some fruits and veggies take really well to growing in just water.

I've gotten 7 since I've started with the event.
And, talking about plants, does anyone has tips on how to care for them when you're not home?
Because I'll be going on a 2 weeks trip later this month, and even worse, once again in August and I'm pretty scared they won't do well.

One thing we do is to take a drinks bottle, like for coke or whatever, and put a tiny hole in the lid with a pin. Cut off the bottom part, push it into the soil lid-first, and fill it with water. Then it trickles through very slowly over time so the plant gets a consistent watering. Although it probably wouldn't last for two weeks haha.

I've seen that set up in Harvest Moon, I didn't know it was a real thing.
11 more post and one more donut.

I've always use a tray of water so it can absorb up through the bottom or asked a friend to water them when they come to pick up the mail and make sure no one has decided to break into the house.
Found this as well:

I tried the bottle thing and found out it causes overwatering and my water bottle is empty in a few days. Not sure if they'd survive overwatering followed by nothing.
I tried the thread trick in the video as well. Worked pretty well for around 10 days in the middle of Summer so should work as well this time.
My problem is that it requires a bit of a set up. I was hoping of not having to move my huge pots around this time. There's no space to burry bottles in there either.
My problem is that since the last time I did that, I kinda bought a lot of new ones. And they're all potted plants because that's all I can do here.
Guess I'll just put the small ones in the sink with water and hope for the best.

Yeah, you have to be really precise with the right hole size in the bottle for it to work. I used it over the summer and only had to fill it once because we left the plant outside and the rain topped it up every time it was about to run out XD pretty handy when the weather is good. That was one of the plants that ended up dying in the cold weather though.
