Doesn't it require a lot of strength to stick something into an arm like that?! :mcargh:
Eyyyywaaaaaa *shivers*

Eh? No, you'd be surprised. The human body is quite amazing but also quite weak and frail. For an experiment Nan, next time you have some melon, doesn't matter what kind, but take a dull pencil and push it through the rind. That's about how much force it takes. Or, better yet, next time you have some beef or pork, poke a knife into it. Start with barely any force and just slowly add more until it starts to go in. Although it is a cow and a pig, it is still very similar to how our flesh would behave... in fact, a pig carcass is used a lot for cutting tests with various knives (just watch sword demos, usually with a hanging side of pig) because of how similarly it behaves like human flesh.

sorry I vanished again *bows*
it's been a really hard few weeks :mcsleepy:

and Happy late New Year *hugs*

it's not too hard to penetrate the skin, I accidentally stabbed myself in the palm with a pencil in elementary school, and I had just been holding it (I still have a light mark where the tip of the pencil had pierced)
I think I heard that if you apply about a pound of pressure it's super easy to go through the skin

as for casts and such, I've luckily not needed a cast, I broke my arm back in... 4th or 5th grade but it was way up in my shoulder so I got away with just a sling

Yeah, I have a few dots on various parts of my body from having pencil stabbing wars with friends. They stab me, I stab them... they stab me back, I stab them back... etc.

And hi! Happy New Year to you too *hugs*

It sucks that times have been hard. I still have pains in my ribs once in a while, but not nearly as badly as I used to~

Ooh I see... :o

I still have a scar while I was play-fighting with my dad xD
Sometimes, I try to scratch it open. But it doesn't work that way I suppose :o

Scar tissue is stronger than regular flesh, which is why it looks so odd sometimes and it is possible to pick open a scar, I have done it before. One time I stepped on a broken beer bottle and cut my foot open pretty bad. Even after it healed I was still having problems with pain and stuff, ended up having pieces of glass stuck in the cut, so I picked at the scar to pick it open and pull the shards of glass out.

*shudders* Nan, why do you try to pick open your scar?

it's weird with scars though, one of the ones from my first operation in 2006 feels like it's thin, and sometimes it hurts red-hot and made me freaked out that it had broken open and started bleeding :mcomg:
(actually a few of my scars do that... they either seem to hurt or itch, kinda irritating at times)

I don't know... it feels weird and soft and bumpy. Makes me want to smooth it out xD The scar is like a line, and it makes me want to pick it even more.

Thankfully, my scar doesn't feel itchy. Or I would scratch it even more and make it bleed :mcargh:

I have all kinds of scars from all kinds of injuries. One on my finger is kind of hard and it's a raised bump, but that was where a sparkler got pressed to my finger by accident. Those burn extremely hot, over 2,000 degrees... my skin burned badly and it basically melted my skin which kind of put it out, except that sparklers are actually burning melting metal that kind of explodes when it is hot and exposed to oxygen... if you didn't know how they worked. Most sparklers are magnesium, which is an ingredient used in thermite... which burns so hot that coke can sized amount can burn through the hood and engine of a car, as well as the concrete beneath it and down onto and through another car if it were in a multistory car park.

I reacted quickly and stuck my hand in a bucket of water... but it wasn't fun pulling (more like ripping) off the sparkler... and looking back... I never did go tell an adult, nor did I go take any tylenol or anything... just ignored it and kept playing with my friends... like I did with most injuries that I knew didn't require immediate medical attention... XD

Like one time I was helping my friend take his dogs for a walk and since they were Whippets, we decided to ride our bikes. One of the dogs sees a squirrel and chased after it, which caused the leash to wrap around my foot and cause the chain and sprocket to tear into my leg... had a deep lash that went down to the bone, although at that part of the leg (below the calf) there isn't a lot between the skin and the bone anyway... but I yelled at the dog as I was sprawled out in the middle of the road all beaten up from falling with a gash on my leg... the dog came over and licked my face but I was mad at him and pushed him away... which made me feel bad because he was trying to apologize and console me... so I called him back over and let him snuggle with me and lick my face... when I got home I just wrapped it in some gauze and carried on.

But the one time I was riding dirt bikes with my friend and my foot slipped and got planted on the ground as I was going forward about 30 mph... caused me fall and to tear ligaments in my knee... which during the fall I broke my kneecap... went to the doc for that one. :D (see, I'm not some lunatic!)

I found this gif of a two year old skateboarding; http://forgifs.com/gallery/d/224103-2/2 ... arding.gif

It kind of shows what I was like at that age, and younger... I was climbing stuff before I learned to walk. XD
