Thanks Chrizine. I dunno why I talk to her, but I do wanna stay connected to my nieces. So I guess I do know why. Lol
She drives me nuts.

That is understandable. Unfortunately, until your nieces are old enough to keep contact with on their own, that'll force you to interact with her :(

Lol sorry Candy, I was writing with Dream in Merry's thread, so that's probably the reason for the name switch xD

Anyway, I also feel sorry to hear that. But I am glad you want to keep in touch with your niece and therefore bear with your sister.
She sounds very childish in her behavior.

@DC:

I'm one of those people who get tunnel vision with my tasks. Whenever I have something set, I want to be committed to it, unless there's a very good reason not to be.

Sorry to hear about your sister, btw. There's always someone you won't get along with, no matter what.

@Chrizine

Hey, welcome!

Sure, come back and share all your opinions with us when you have the time! I'm the same when it comes to typing on mobile --I would prefer just to do all my typing on a comp.

Thanks a bunch!

kofk on my mobile just sucks... I never use it. Except I am travelling. But then I do only log in to collect the tokens.

Yeah, for me it's tough to click on the right threads in mobile, even when I zoom. And I'm slow in texting in general.

I pretty much do the same when traveling. XD

Totally!

I can type fast, but with kofk it is so hard to click on the right icon xD

I wonder how many wigs I can afford..

My thumb is highly trained for aiming at kofk threads :D I even hit the little icon that jumps straight to the new posts ^^
I don't really have any problem reading kofk on mobile, I just don't like typing a lot on it. Or doing anything complicated that I would like to open multiple tabs for, like figuring out a trade or something like that.

Okay, now about the naming:
For me it depends. Sometimes I have a name in mind almost immediately when the character idea comes. But if that is not the case, I typically first clear up my ideas of what the character's background is, what their tastes are. Then I try to create their looks using some dressup game (I can highly recommend this site. There's a lot of really beautiful and flexible dressup games on there. Just takes a bit of looking around, since there's also a lot of weird ones or ones that don't work anymore at least in my browser. Some of my favourites are 1, 2, 3, 4). Once I got that, sometimes just by looking at them a name that fits comes to mind, or maybe not a concrete name, but a feeling for the style.
Then I like to look at this naming site for inspiration. I linked a particular blog article that I ended up using to create the name for a character I recently created - for this character, I felt like her parents would have some slightly eccentric themed naming ideas, so I ended up going all flower names for her and she ended up called Amaryllis Violet Gardenia. Poor girl :D She has people call her Ama for short ;) Her sister is called Cassiopeia and even though I didn't bother to fix more than her first name (she's not a character that is actually present in the story so far), I imagine they are something inspired by constellations as well ^^
But in general, I love this site! There's so many interesting articles about naming trends and styles, I've wasted hours on there :D I mostly end up remembering some blog article when I try to look for a character name and then look for that one and see if it inspires me. But it also has a handy search to look up names with some constraints on what letters it uses, how common it is and some style filters, I sometimes use that, too. And I also use the search to check the meaning of a name once I have found one or several that I like. I'm not strictly always looking for a meaningful name (since it seems actually unrealistic that a character would have a name that somehow reflects events later in their life), but I like when I find one with a nice meaning. And sometimes I do actually prioritize the meaning some more, it depends on the setting. Like, if it's a fantastical creature I'm naming for example, I like it if the name kind of fits that.

@LittleJulez

Good luck trying to get them all!

I've been thinking about how many donuts I can collect to give away this time around, as well as the sort of event I want to have. I recently thought of something simple that I think you guys will enjoy. :3

@Chrizine

LOL, nice!

Yeah, I only use KofK mobile for simple chats, but it doesn't have much appeal. I mostly play apps on my phone, since it's friendlier than going on websites.

Ohh, I'll have to check out those links when I'm back home! That sounds very intriguing (the site content); sounds like something I'd enjoy.

I can relate with you on creating parents who give their children quirky names. XD With a witch-themed RP that I'm planning I have some characters with odd names (a big WIP). Since it might involve the concept of "true names" (and faery tale/folklore-esque elements), I'll have to look into it more, but it is a lot of fun to choose a good name for a character.

While working on some side characters, I decided on the name Cori (her name's Coriander), and I think I named her sister Ann (Anise). I'm thinking there's probably a green witch of sorts in the family (hence the names), but one of the parents is non-magic.

After tinkering with some ideas for the characters, however, I'm wondering if these names are more like nicknames. I was musing over having Cori's true name be "Andromeda".

The main character (or one of them) that I'm working on was going to be named Casper, but now I'm wondering if Caspian would be more suitable. I guess I need to draw him in order to decide on if I want one as a true name and one as a nickname.

For Cas and Cori, their names came first before anything else (which is unusual for me, but for some reason, the idea of having two friends with the same first letter in their names appealed to me). I knew they were going to come from families where one parent was a witch and one wasn't, and that they were going to have different upbringings and opinions on the matter.

Bringing the convo back to your OCs, though, if I was a parent with a last name like "Gardenia", I'd totally take advantage of it and give my kids themed names too. XD
