A maximum amount of food to pay for new WK items was too a problem for me.
I decided, as you (coincidence) 1k as maximum. But I broke this rule myself sometimes, paying 1,5k, and 2k too and even more.

By the way, when an old WK item was offered to 2,5k, I didn't pay for it (and this was the last item of the set). Now, I feel some stupid because it is still a WK item missing in my wardrobe. And it was only for 2,5k.

So, when the decision is correct or not?

That's the thing, you never know if your decision is right XD One time I bought some item because I thought, well, it's rare to even see it, I have the food, so why not. sometime later I saw it for much lower price. /facepalm

Since I have not chance to get more donations (for a while at least) I have declined to pay for some GotQ and also for many Treasure Trove items. I am just buying the monthly set and some items which I would like it.
So, less possibilities to overpay in the market for items just for the reason that I haven't.

For auctions I put the item in my wishlist and wait until to end to bid (not at last minute though)

I always forget auctions too. But if I remember, and the price is not exceeding what I'm willing to pay, I bid at the last 10 seconds. ... Sometimes someone still bids over xD
