I guess one could keep up a conversation by themselves, but would it be a conversation that they would want others to be able to view and comment on is the question.

I guess you could argue that that's just the spam forum XD

I have 39 donuts. I am winning already. lol. So I did really well this time because I had spent all the ones I had before on hair extensions.
I've been trying to post more recently but I've been sick for the past few days and it makes conversations hard. lol.
I see people who do that. They just make comments to themselves. It's a little annoying when they do it often. It's not so bad when they do it once in a while. I honestly do it once in a while as well.

I do that a lot... it comes of the bad habit of talking mostly to myself out loud, too.
Well, ostensibly the Elders are here. But it's really mostly just talking to myself....
If I kind of narrate and just talk as I do things, they seem happy and content although they don't actually say anything in response or even hear me well, but if I'm not doing that then they start to get fidgety and a little anxious and then start asking me questions and trying to create a conversation -one they can actually hear and speak at. Which is fine, I don't mind talking to them, but I don't like the anxious and fidgety part. I've figured out they just want that background noise of human voice in an "everything is okay" tone. So I end up talking to myself all the time.
And then it's a habit.
And it spills over into writing, too.
Sorry.
(technically it'd be possible to put on some kind of show or radio program or something in the background for them, but I find that highly distracting and then I get nothing done. Talking to myself while I do things still lets me do things)

Damn, I now have the grand total of 4 XD
I talk to myself constantly when no one can hear me haha. Usually just whispering so it's not so in-your-face. But it's the only way I can get stuff done because I need to literally tell myself what I have to do, otherwise I don't focus enough and I miss things out. Like I will do a full face of makeup but somehow miss mascara. Or have a shower without shaving my underarms. Or get ready for bed but forget to put my retainers in. All actual examples of stuff that I've forgotten if I wasn't concentrating, even though I do them in such a set routine that it ought to really be muscle memory by now.
I get super annoyed when J puts videos on his phone without headphones in when I'm trying to do something like get ready for bed. I can't concentrate on what I'm thinking if I can hear something else. Or he'll talk to me which screws up everything as well when I was trying to focus.

I mutter to myself at work sometimes...

But I don't really care at this point xD
Also, talking to yourself is supposedly a sign of intelligence :D Or so I've heard, idk if it's true or just supposed to make us feel better XD

Huh, sounds like it's pretty common! I guess it makes sense with the focus thing, because that would help block incoming stimuli when you're busy producing a sort of stimulus yourself... huh. Now I want to see what sort of research has been done on the phenomenon.

That does actually sound pretty logical, yes! Did you end up looking for research on it, Akili?
I think I sometimes talk to myself, too, but not that much.
(also, btw, look into the discord sometime ;))

I am finally in a job that is so much less stress and so much more time to do things like post here, but this week my boss is sitting next to me for most of the day....
I just realized I only own two of the knotted shirt - don't think I am going to get them all between this and the next visit.
