lol well for cooking, there's normally no real need to measure...xP at least, i've never really had to. it's baking that gives me problems, i don't like having to measure things out and deal with NUMBERS. LOL.

Yeah, baking is fussy in that aspect
Doesn't mean that some experimentation isn't possible, it's just easier to go bad
Like the pizza dough recipe dad uses, he's altered some

Indeedydo
Now, for me, it's premade mashed potatoes
I can make it by the instructions exactly three times and have it turn out differently each time. One time so thick it's pretty much gone back to being a potato, one time at that nice point where it's neither too thick or thin, and once where it's soup
Which is still better than this one time dad made rice in the microwave following the instructions and had it come out burnt black. Still haven't figured that one out LOL

you make rice in the microwave? o-o never done that before, i've either steamed in the wok or, more often, put it in the rice cooker...xD;;

We have neither wok nor rice cooker
But yeah, you can microwave it
Yeah those are part of the ingredients needed and I've still gotten it to be baked potato thickness
I did have to go milkless once. Used sour cream instead. Course, I'd also pelled and diced and boiled the potatoes too, so...
Plus a whole stick of butter

butter would be ideal but margarine miiiiiight be healthier? iunno...xP
welllllll you could always use a pot, boil water, maybe buy a little rack to put into said pot so you can easily steam it...o; i've steamed things in pots before if the wok is being used...c; all you need is the steaming rack...xP and i think they're not that expensive lol.

Dad does it stovetop. In a saucepan. Boil water. Pour in rice
We're talking minute rice here
The good rice we use a big pot and the round strainer

Ah I see. I don’t think ours is minute rice. Asians eat so much rice lol, we hoard it every time there’s a sale in those big bags lol.

Minute rice is long grain, and comes in boxes
