You wanted to talk about the Japanese school system the other day, right, Aya-san? XD Why don't you tell us what you know... not sure if I have anything to add, but I'm sure it'll be an interesting discussion.

M'kay. ^^ I'll probably forget something the first time around and add more as we go on discussing it.

So as far as I know, the students are placed in classes (and then they look at this big board-thing to see which class they're in? oxO), and the teachers change classrooms when periods are over not the students.

EDIT: And there's elementery, middle, high school, and college. I remember when my sensei was trying to teach me grade levels it was really difficult cos its so different from what we have where I live. >x<;;

And they change their shoes for school 'slippers' or shoes (some may have their name on them) and they keep them in little lockers? I saw it in mangas. :3

EDIT: And to bully someone you can take/hide their shoes(?). :(

So, do students of all grades need to wear uniforms, or just middle and high school ones?

I see a lot of manga with school festivals and sport contests going on; I guess that's like spirit week here, except that with the festivals, everyone (not just students and staff) are invited to go, right?

Tsuki-chan: Ya in lots of manga I've seen that students are very close to they're senseis and joke and hang around with them and such. ^^
