Firn has mentioned that she does not feel comfortable implementing that feature, since you never know when people may come back. It would be unfair to the people who have been here for a long time, but had to leave for awhile for personal reasons. I know I've been gone for a year at a time, and as someone who has been on here for many, many years, I would be DEVASTATED if I came back to an empty Wardrobe. It would disproportionately affect older users, which I doubt Firn would want, since this site wouldn't be where it is today without those original users. ^^;
I bet the same thing would be true for things like Knuffels, Fairy Coins, taken usernames, etc.
While I too wish more people would release their old, rare items from their wardrobes before they leave for good, I think it would be a very unfair feature.
Especially since those users may not be alerted to the change in policy (which was not part of the terms and conditions they signed) before the transfer occurred, which would harbor resentment against Firn and Starkard if those users were to come back.
If such a feature ever was implemented, they would probably have to only have it apply to users who signed up after the change in policy, and would have to change the terms and conditions to reflect the change. So, either way, the old, rare items you are thinking about would never be released. ^^;
